It's basically the iPhone without the phone -- and half the cost. Does this mean they consider the phone portion of the iPhone a 200 dollar feature?

That's about the price of a good phone. I think the 8 gigs thing sucks. Of course, I'm running around with only 4.

I'll be buying the 16GB version on Sept 28th. I'm selling off a number of RPG items to raise cash for it. It looks like one of my co-workers is going to buy some of it (I'm trying to give him a deal on all of it), but if anyone else is interested, I can post a list (here or on ENWorld or something).
I'm a Applehead (I gladly drink the kool-aid), but I've never been excited about an iPod until this one. I use my Palm T5 everyday, but the new iPod Touch will replace it. Very exciting...

The iPod Touch looks pretty freakin' awesome, but I hate the low amount of storage space. My music collection is over 20 GB, so for now I'll stick with my 30 GB iPod Video.

I used to think I needed 30 GB of music with me at all times (if not more) until I my iPod broke and I could only afford to replace it with a 4 GB model. Now I realize that I really don't need that much music with me every day. (Unless I'm going on a trip, in which case what the heck am I doing listening to so much music instead of enjoying the place I'm visiting?)
Now I'm extreamly happy I decided to wait on buying the iPhone -- really, all I wanted was Internet access in my iPod!

The new iPod nano looks cool too. It's cheap and has a color screen for video.
The problem is I have no use for one since I can't wear headphones at work. Now if they could just come out with those invisible headphones (http://www.24dash.com/news/7/11955/index.htm) they keep talking about we'd be in business.
I'll stick with my Sony Walkman

Wow the Starbucks tie in is really clever.
No need to pay for wifi access for the ITunes shop in Starbucks, the I-Pod Touch detects it is in Starbucks and the I-Tunes shop becomes available.
Not only that it tells you what is playing in the Starbucks (up to the last 10 tunes).
Smart marketing.
Shame I hate coffee.

8 GB is plenty for me. The music collection is much bigger than that, but it forces me to actually make a conscious decision about what music I want to carry with me instead of just bringing the everything with me. Now everything in my iPod is worth listening to, instead of just a fraction I have to skip past songs to get to.

My only problem is that the Wi-Fi only works in Wi-Fi enabled areas. I'd be glad to pay like 5 or 10 bucks a month to piggy-back on the AT&T Network and have Internet access everywhere.
