So my Aunt, who I never speak to and lives in CA, called me this morning. She was crying and telling me that her husband was giving her sleeping pills and that she was going to die and that my grandma wanted her dead. I told her to call 911 and she said "I can't, who would take care of my animals". So I told her to call her daughter right now. I then called the police department for the city she lives in and asked them to make a welfare check and have called my dad, who is calling my grandmother.
I am now pacing up and down, wondering what on Earth that was all about and why of all people she called me, who hasn't spoken to her in years.
I am stuck with how hard it is to get a hold of another cities emergency services. We googled the city's police department and got directories to desks and voice mails but no main number. All the recordings I found, said, if this is an emergency please hang up and dial 911, but that would only get me emergence services here. I even called our non-emergency number and they said they have no numbers for other cities police departments, which seems really odd. Finally, our of desperation I call information, and they were able to get me a number. All in all, it took about 5 min to find, but I would think it should be way easier.
Anyway, please send thoughts for her and her family...
