Like most people (I imagine) I think in the shower. Some of todays mental meanderings.

Toys and articulation:
Toys for boys tend to move and/or articulate more than toys for girls. I personally doubt that is pure cultural biasing. They toy manufacturers are going to make what sells screw the cultural bias. I wonder what evolutionary past has created a gender preferences along those lines. Would make for interesting study.

Superman:
Why I don't like Superman. I don't envision him failing. That reason and goat feltching are why I don't like him. I bet he orbits the planet listening for the sound for goat matings so he can feltch some goat spunk.

Studies indicate that boys are more responsive to objects and how objects move and moving the objects in space... we learn better when moving things around be it ourselves or our stuff. Its the root of the boys are better at math concepts... tangentialy moving things through space and understanding how that happens helps one in mathmatics.

The missus has been reading a bunch of books on raising boys and what to expect and some of the info is pretty interesting... thats where that came from.

Boys like toys that move, be it a action figure or R/C car.

Toys:
My wife's dealt a lot with articles and studies on early childhood development and education, and has remarked that there seems to be very clear gender differences show immediately in what kind of play the two seem to enjoy. I've also read recently that infant males in the first few months of life receive a spike of testosterone comparable with the levels seen in adolescent males; it's theorized that this is a primer of sorts, preparing them for later physiological development in life. The two may be interconnected somehow.

Superman:
Dude, he's a fictional character. He works however the people writing him want him to work. If somebody writes a bad Sherlock Holmes, Conan, or Hercules story, it speaks more of the writer's talent than the character in question. If the things you imagine cease to entertain you, it likely has more to do with what you're imagining than the external sources that spark the concept.

And I've got to say -- I'm more than a little disturbed that you're thinking about a built guy in tights and goat felching while you're "showering". :D

I spent a good junk of the shower deciding if he feltched super spunk or goat spunk and decided he isn't a goat fucker just a goat feltcher. :)

Seconded!

Tell us about your shower time today! C'mon! Please no goat felching though. You can skip that line of thought.

Nothing too exciting.
I spent a good chunk of it trying to decide on what type event classification for image matching. I'm trying to decide how many events and in what manner they should be identified. I'm also thinking that region classification around an event can provide a higher chance of correct matching.
After that I need to compare effeciency and accuracy of event matching with/without region matching vs region matching alone.

I've also been wondering about nanite invasion scenarios. I posted some short game ideas on therpgsite but I think you could get some cool stories/games going out of nanites from space.

Beats out the random thoughts I got from the radio today on the way to work on whether or not sex with a pregnant woman qualifies as a threesome.

First: The toys and boys may have something to do with how men are more focused on movement because they have to hunt?

Second: This thread needs more pics of you in the shower.

If you can get hold of a copy of the Nicholas Fisk novel "Trillions", it has a fantastic scenario along those lines

A little background information:
It is a little known fact that spiders and slugs hate humans with a passion that is only eclipsed by their hatred for each other. They have been fighting a war of extermination for millennia. It may seem a one sided war with the spiders advance laser weaponry an the seeming lack of any such technology from the slugs.
Slugs are actually power psychics which allows them to predict the spiders move countering both their speed and lasers.
They have been at a stand still for the last 400,000 years which is the only thing that allowed humans to rise to dominance on the planet. When the slugs tried to move against the humans the spiders would move against the slugs and vice-a-versa.

My thoughts this morning was wondering what would happen if one finally won. How long would we last. Those little spider lasers individually might not be much but you get a lot of them pointing at you and it can frickin hurt.
And slugs can give you a headache.
Man that would suck. I hope their war goes on.

Yes varaj your mind does work in strange ways. :)

I also hope that the spiders and slugs continue their war because I can not stand either one of them.

Today I thought of a new way to present the Progressive movement, and I cannot believe I forgot Alice Tully and Frank Hauge last year. Then I need to finish the phototrolling for my holocaust unit in december. I hate that I have to look at these pictures. I think this year I will include Nanjing as well, along with the german holocaust and hiroshima and dresden. Note to self explain -what- a holocaust is and note the difference with genocide. I hate looking at these photos. Well someone has to remember. I don't want to go on my date today but meh how bad can coffee be.

What is the difference between a holocaust and genocide?

My Grade 9 history teacher was a nut. He was a young teacher, and really popular with the students -- he'd gone to the same school years before. Crazy guy. Kept a spiked ball and chain in his desk.

Anyway, in between droning on about bizarre facts of medieval or ancient history, and how they affected the modern history we were studying, he'd go on about odd little snippets of WWII lore. Turns out his grandfather was a member of the Hitler Youth back in the day, so he had flags, photos... all kinds of disturbing "trophies" from Nazi Germany. He did not, however, at any point, fail to stress the great evil of the Nazis.

At the end of the year he capped it all by showing us old films taken when the camps were liberated. The ones made because they knew, at the time, that what they faced was so horrible that the world would be unable to comprehend, and some unable to believe, without some kind of witness to the event. It was raw footage, and I'm pretty sure it scarred damned near every one of us. My guts still clench up when I think of those images.

As the hot water cascades over my body and I slowly wake up I list things I have to do during the day in my mind, from pay bills to taking my Mom to the hair dresser (Friday is a day off) for my sister. After I put things in the proper to do order I finish my shower and go out to face the day.

A friend was telling me about her recent trip to Australia and the tour she did in Sydney of all the haunted locations in a Herse named Morticia. They have a voice track they play that is supposed to represent the car.

So I've been obsessed with a Knight Rider spin-off staring Morticia the talking Herse. Developing that pilot took up most of my shower time this morning.

The definition of a holocaust is- 1. Great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire.

A genocide is a purposeful extermination of a group of people. The terms are interchangeable today. The distinction is fine but I need to make it when I cover all of those topics in one unit.

Whistle and hum in the shower... No singing because then the SO thinks I am strangling the cat....

"Riding along in my automobile
My baby beside me at the wheel"...

Now why is his baby at the wheel? He wants to come across all macho but he lets his girlfriend drive?

Why did I not check what was written on the shampoo when I bought it? This is the 2-in-1 stuff. Fuck. Gotta hurry, coffee's getting cold.

"Cruising and playing the radio..."

This morning in the shower I was trying to scheme up a contraption that would suspend my kids from the ceiling in a parachute-sort-of-harness, on bouncy cords like a johnny-jump-up, right outside my bathroom door so I could shower in peace without 1) them wreaking havoc all over the house or 2) depending on someone being there to watch them. Such a device does not exist as of yet and I need to make it happen. It must hold a 43 lb. 4-year-old. It must also feed them goldfish crackers when they're hungry and refill their milk cups so they don't whine and bang on the shower door.

I've thought about little velcro suits and a velcro wall (like on Letterman) for taking care of this... much less of a choking hazard.
