Here you go, you attention-whoring little bottom-dweller: I've dedicated a thread to you in the (likely vain) hope that you'll finally shut the fuck up about this in other people's threads.
I've long ago accepted that your ridiculous whining is my personal karma. My obsessive-compulsive nature has driven me to undertake the Sisyphian task of trying to illustrate the hypocrisy and foolishness of your own behaviour to you. There's only a very little altruism in this, I fear: you amuse me, so when you take things to a certain point -- like you did today -- I poke you with a stick. Again.
In short, you mincing little fuckwit, am I really so important to you that you had to go and threadcrap, again, dragging a thread off topic, yet again, to get whupped one more time?
And yet when *I* make fun of ridiculous religious beliefs you go off like an Islamic protester at a Satanic Verses book signing....
When have I ever threatened you bodily harm? Never mind having threatened to kill you.
You've been trying to make this silly accusation stick for months now. I haven't bothered addressing it because it makes it pretty clear to folks what an idiot you are. By all means, continue. :D
The fact that you can't grasp why I can laugh about religion and still slap you upside the head for being a bigotted jackass is somewhat telling. I'm curious to see if you can figure this out. Everybody else has. Smart money is on you failing.
[Little reminder of how our feud started: Scientology thread. I pointed out how most religious beliefs are as ridiculous as the Xenu myth. You went off like a Palestinian on an Israeli bus. I took me days to get all that powder puff out of my shirt.]
1) Why am I not surprised to learn that you make use of a powder puff? I'm quite disturbed to know that you wore the same shirt for days, however. You're a lawyer, fer Chrissakes. Buy a new one, you cheapskate.
2) I'm not sure whether you're mentally deficient or a compulsive liar. I mean, sure, the lawyer jokes here are easy -- but KoS is a lawyer, and I'd hate to zing him by association. He's actually able to hold a conversation.
Do you really think that people have forgotten your initial "I love Dawkins" thread? You professed how compelling you found his bigotted crap, and that you were buying into it. I told you that I was disappointed in you, and surprised that you were giving serious consideration to that half-baked bullshit. You then displayed how open your mind really is by getting into a nancy-assed little hissy-fit 'cause I cussed and called Dawkins' nonsense all kinds of mean things -- without taking a direct shot at you, I might add.
But lordy, lordy! Did I ever poke at you after that! You acted like a 14 year old schoolboy who just had his first girlfriend insulted. I couldn't help but goad you on for a half dozen pages. :D
You're an idiot, Atticus. Worse, for this community you're the village idiot -- and you're in denial.

If we drop him in a white suit, give him a good thick book to thump on, and teach him to speak in an accent from the USA's deep south, he might be good for a laugh or two.

Greyone! You have cut me to the quick with your rapier-like wit! This cunning twist on my surname is the very height of satire, and I doubt I shall ever fully recover from the sting of such a well-aimed barb!
Admit it, some other, possessed undoubtedly of celestial wit and sublimely sharp tongue, thought of this cunning turn of phrase!

I know, I know. It's tedious. For that, I apologize. I'm hoping this will acheive at least a moderate reduction of this crap in other threads.
On the flipside -- you clicked your way into this thread, didn't you? ;)

I admit it. I am ashamed I stole the wit from he who wrought such gemstones from the naked earth as: Gjelvis and Gjelvis Santorum.

There is wisdom there, but while I could, in theory, put him on ignore, it will not stop him from derailing threads.
Seriously Atticus, cut it out. It's getting retarded.

Done.
Which is a terrible shame, really. On other issues, Northcott ocassionally contributes to my enjoyment of this place.
It's really a test of the worth of a poster, isn't it? How much do you miss them when you put them on ignore? Gjelvis? Never missed him. Cyberzombie? Used to keep taking him off ignore because he was so damn funny, but he lost the funny at some point and made it easy. Izrador? Could never keep him on ignore. There was always just enough twisted insight in his craziness that he couldn't be ignored.

Ye Gods. If this means that I've both lost my stalker and we'll see a reduction of thread-crapping, then I think I'm actually happy about this.
I'll think about it some more tomorrow when I've got sleep and caffeine in my favour.

I live in the South.
What got me is that he inplied that Evangelists are from the south, while some are, Billy Sunday was from Iowa, Wilson Carlile was English and William Aberhart was Canadian

Doc, are you by any chance trying to replace your DOB good ol' boy rep with a knee-jerk, oversensitive, hyper-defensive one? 'Cause you're doing a damned fine job so far.
For fuck sakes, sit down and grab a sense of humour. How many times have you casually thrown out "Canuckistan" as a comment? And what was that Canadian crack sent in the last PM? Does anybody give a shit? Fuck, no. The term "Bible Belt" doesn't refer to an article in Jesus' wardrobe, man. Really. Get over it.

I'm sorry, Enk, but it seems your suggestion can only work if both Northcott and I adopted it. Since Northcott keeps responding to my pots in his aggressive and insulting fashion, and RF and other posters demand I respond to Northcott's points in religions debates, it's proven to be just unworkable.
It was a nice idea though...

Neither victimised, nor innocent - simply trying (unsuccessfully) to find a way of getting the heat out of the discussions on religion.
Is it too much to ask that you either restrain yourself from being an insulting ass (as you've admitted (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/showpost.php?p=16115&postcount=16) to being) or put me on ignore?
And, by the way, what excluded middle? (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/showthread.php?p=16000#post16000)

1) Then quit playing the card.
2) Removal of heat from religious discussions is as easy as speaking with respect, even if you don't believe in the same things. Perpetually referring to the beliefs of another as "delusion" and attempting to frame the boundaries and experience of their belief for them (decrying claims of 'my faith gave me the strength to get through a hard time'), while on the other hand claiming that 100% certainty in a thing is irrational and so refusing to deny the possibility of divinity existing, is not condusive to either rational or polite discussion. As you've noted, there's a reason why I can discuss the issue politely with No-Bob, but choose not to do so with you. It's not an accident.
3) See above.
4) The answer lies in the moment that you refused to accept the validity of Rich's simple answer; "Both".

Perpetually referring to the beliefs of another as "delusion"
Point me to a time when I've used that word. Dawkins uses it. I don't.
(Note, I've used "virus", but in the very specific memetics sense. In that sense, science and rationality are also "viruses".)
and attempting to frame the boundaries and experience of their belief for them
Where, exactly, have I done that?
(decrying claims of 'my faith gave me the strength to get through a hard time'),
Huh? I've acknowledge that as one of the great strengths of faith. I just don't think it was anything outside the person that got them through. The faith was a placebo like technique that allowed them to access inner resources that would otherwise have been locked away.
while on the other hand claiming that 100% certainty in a thing is irrational and so refusing to deny the possibility of divinity existing,
Huh? I'm not 100% sure of anything. Indeed, I give the possibility of God's existence at a far higher percentage than Dawkis does.
is not condusive to either rational or polite discussion. As you've noted, there's a reason why I can discuss the issue politely with No-Bob, but choose not to do so with you. It's not an accident.
You seemed to have me confused with a boogey man of your own making. Why don't you try putting aside your preconceived ideas of what I'm saying, and actually read what I'm saying? Surely the Bob incident should show you that your reading my posts with a rather distorted lens.
Because the alternative to taking off your blinkers about me is continued spats and acrimony - and surely that's not actually what you want???

Dude Ed is not always angry. I think at this point we can all conclude you both like riling each other up. If you have -no- idea why your posting style may piss him off you sir need to be hit with a clue by 4
Hell, I'm not even angry when I respond to Atticus and/or flame him. I just swear lots. Using "fuck" for punctuation isn't anger, it's just a potty mouth of epic proportions. :D
I've tried explaining to Atticus my issues with his posts several times now, in quite blunt and direct language -- and sometimes even with limited or no swearing! Doesn't work. I'm now to the point where I'm trying to avoid repeating myself with him, and it's severely cutting down on the number of times I reply to him.

Point me to a time when I've used that word. Dawkins uses it. I don't.
 You're full of shit. I've come to believe that you actually believe the things you say, so when I say "you're full of shit", I mean you're lying to yourself as well. You've used the phrase in connection with the religious beliefs of others, and done so as a statement of your own rather than quoting an author.
And no, I'm not going to go dig it up. Really, man, I'm just not that invested in this.
Where, exactly, have I done that?
Not that I expect you to be able to comprehend this, but: When you define the parameters by which another's faith can or may impact their lives, in contradiction to their own statement of experience, you do that very thing.
Huh? I've acknowledge that as one of the great strengths of faith. I just don't think it was anything outside the person that got them through. The faith was a placebo like technique that allowed them to access inner resources that would otherwise have been locked away.
Sure. You acknowledged it as a great strength of faith -- in a noteably dismissive and belittleing turn of phrase, while simultaneously noting that religious faith was a dangerous notion that should be removed.
In my etiquette class, they told me not to swear at people because some have a rather sensitive reaction to it. I ignored them. Did your etiquette teacher tell you to avoid insulting and demonizing someone when you were complimenting them?
You seemed to have me confused with a boogey man of your own making. Why don't you try putting aside your preconceived ideas of what I'm saying, and actually read what I'm saying? Surely the Bob incident should show you that your reading my posts with a rather distorted lens.
Not really, no.
Y'know, I think I'll take one more swing with the clue-stick: Has it ever struck you as odd that I cuss my face off, poke at people, make jokes about cinderblocks, and our little community of misfits still seems to tolerate me? Perhaps even like me. It's probably because most know not to take the ranting too seriously, and there's very, very few people who's faces I really get up into.
Whereas you're a rather well-spoken fellow who's fairly well read, and you're careful to keep overt nastiness out of your posts (usually) -- yet you're a highly controversial figure who's pissed a lot of people off, and left perhaps as many utterly apathetic about your presence.
Now before you go spinning off thinking this is some sort of popularity contest, stop and ask yourself this:
1) Why does this guy get in my face, when he doesn't seem to give a shit about atheism, or what beliefs people hold in general?
2) Why do I keep on insisting that he's horribly misreading my posts, when multiple members of the community, with a variety of personalities and personal philosophies, accused me of similar things (though with more polite language)?
When there's 500 people in a room and a good 400 or so of them have said; "Man, you've got a big fucking 'KICK ME' sign on your back" -- don't tell them "you're just seeing the pattern of my tie incorrectly, you illiterate monkey". Stop, take your fucking jacket off, and deal with the sign.
Because the alternative to taking off your blinkers about me is continued spats and acrimony - and surely that's not actually what you want???
Truth? Except for how it affects other people on this board, I really don't give a fuck. Sometimes it's amusing, other times it's a bore. In the end it's a null value. I just can't stand the bullshit factor in your posts, so my little obsessive disorder creeps in and I'm compelled to shoot at the ideas that strike me as craptastic. The rest just flows from expanded responses to that.
