The painting is finally done, and the tile for the bathroom floor has been laid (we got a good price on the tile- $1.49 a sq ft.) and yesterday we retrieved the clawfoot bathtub from the refinisher we hired (he did a great job).

On the down side, I've been ill for nearly a month now. I've been to the doctor twice, but they claim it's "post-nasal drip" or something. All I know is that the medication works very, very slowly, and I'm getting tired of coughing and choking on my own mucus. It gets old fast, and wrecks my sleep something fierce. So I feel crappy, sleep-deprived, and physically tired much of the time. I seem to be choking less, but it's still unpleasant. Anna has had to do most of the work lately because I've been so sick. Here's hoping I get better.

Sounds like you got the crud that's been floating around. Not fun. Hope you get better soon.

Glad to hear that you are getting somewhere with the work, and finding the old claw foot is awesome!

But yeah sorry about the illness, that has to be tough. Here's to hoping it won't last much longer.

Feel better soon. And glad to hear things are going well in the basement.

I'm finally managing to squeeze more than a couple of hours of sleep together at a time, in large part thanks to doses of NyQuil. This illness is vicious and difficult to shake.

I'm starting to feel better. Although it took it's sweet time, the medication is working on clearing up my besieged sinuses. Hospital called this morning for a follow up, and they want me back on Monday for more chest x-rays. I tell Anna this and she looks alarmed, and tell her it's no big deal- In a town of only 13,000, I'm likely the only one here with my particular heart condition, so I'm not surprised that they want to poke and prod me some more. Ah, the joy of being a mutant.

Oh, that's right, your heart is on the wrong side isn't it?

Yep. The hospital wants a few more pictures for their "hall of freaks collection" scrapbook. Maybe I should just find the nearest church with a bell tower, get myself an acceptable hunch and start crying "sanctuary! sanctuary!".

We're installing a furnace with central air this weekend. Total cost on the system (100K BTU) was $5800 which is not bad at all for what we are getting. I found an outfit outside Chicago which sells equipment trade net to the public.

Played hell getting a dual pole breaker for the compressor. Turns out this house has an industrial load centre, not a residential load centre. And at that the components are no longer manufactured. Had to go to the Big City to get the breaker, $74 trade net. List on it is over two hundred. The cover for the load centre is not the cover it came with, so I had to get the slots cut out. What a pain.

Other than that we are waiting on the flooring. Pressure treated red pine T&G at a very good price. It will look good.
