Ok so I can take some of the BS about me being from Arkansas, but I need to make a few things clear to some here that have it in thier minds I'm a backwoods barefoot redneck. I've been around the world and seen the fucking bloody elephant so don't talk (or type) down to me. My spelling and grammer suxs but thats me not my education.
Age/ race etc. - 47 white male Hetro ( I like women, both as friends and lovers. I have NO problem with a woman in authority)
Maritial status- Married twice (1st died, 2nd divoirce) 1 living child. Not looking for a 3rd
Politics- Moderate Conservative but I vote for the person not the party
Job- Blue collor Tech
Economics- $40.000+ last year (pretty good for this area)
Education; 2 year Jr. Coll in HVAC, partial year at UAPB for Gen Studies (Classwork and tests are not my friends)
Work background- Graduated in 78, US Army for 12 years ( SSGT) Medical discharge, worked construction (electrician), and HVAC
Any body got a question ask, just don't throw any bullshit about "Doc is from Arkansas ~wink fucking wink~

We have only the internet to judge you by. That's all we see of you. We don't and won't see any more of you than your posting here. People judge by what they see here. That's it. You may be the best guy in the world out there in the real world. On the internet, it doesn't matter, because we don't see it.
So again, if you play the part of a fool, people are going to assume you're a fool. Don't bitch about it after the fact when they do assume that.

I don't have a pre conception of any poster, I look at each post as is not on what Limper, Tquinn or anyone else has posted in this or anyother board. I've toned down the DOB scthick for the most part, as for the iggerant hillbilly, other then creative spelling on my part that was other peoples take or a reaction to a specific post. I believe it's my oft misunderstood (so called) humor both on the boards and RL thats the cause of y'alls perception of me. As for today I blame the damn migraine/ toothache.

Assuming I'm reading this right (and I may not be), you expect everyone else to judge each and every post you make completely seperately from your other posts, and posting history?

You are who and what you post here, all of it. If you think differently, then you have a very different viewpoint from the majority of the posters on this board (and probably the internet). You can change who you are by acting differently, or you can reinforce who you are by acting the same. But you can't expect each poster here to pretend they know nothing about you each time.
If we had a true anonomous forum maybe, but as long as there are names and personas associated with posts, the simple fact is you are what you post.

First, if you've cut back the DOB shit, unless you just started today, I haven't noticed it.
Secondly, try to understand that the only thing we have to judge you on is what you write in your posts. If you won't make an effort to write well, it's not a great start.

Heck-fire, Doc... we're only separated by some 120-130 miles. The wind that brushes past you hits me that same afternoon. Same culture, probably the same influences, very much surrounded by the same people. Panther.jd is in the same geographical boat as the two of us as well.
But no one rags on us the same way they do on you. Besides the avatar and the spelling, sometimes you do invite the hick-schtick. I have to agree, however, that many Yankees DO look down on their Southern brethren. I don't see it much around here at Kay's, but lived in Northron long enough to get quite disgusted with it.

The thing is, as others have said, it's not that you're Southern. Most of my blood relatives are proud Southerners, and I feel pride in that background. To me, it's mostly the posting style you've chosen. Why not simply slow down and try to be at least a little more grammatical? Sometimes your posts are difficult to understand. I'm sure you're a good enough guy in real life, but all I have to go on is what and how you post. Plus I've seen Goblin Girl (for one) ask you half a trillion times not to flirt with her. Why not just stop? A Southern gentleman would do so.

Time. Patience.
If you want to be free of the stigma, drop the dirty old bastard schtick immediately and don't go back. If you want to be treated with the respect that you feel your intelligence and level of education affords, then work on improving your spelling and grammar. Honestly, man, that's your face, your clothing and your body language on the Internet. If you spell like a disinterested eighth grader, then people will treat you like a disinterested eighth grader, in the same way that if you dress like a hobo in real life, people will treat you as such. Some people are able to look past shabby clothes to the person beneath, but most aren't.
If you change these things, then with time and with patience, most people will start seeing you differently. Not everyone, but enough.

Look at me, I've pretty much set aside the prototypical PWD postings because it's not as appropriate here as in past homes.
Now, I'll still get down and dirty at the drop of a hat, but generally only where I'm sure I'm not shitting on the carpet. I'm not looking to stir drama here, and I'm trying painfully to make the point that I have fun with this collection of posters even outside of a boisterous barroom brawl atmosphere.
Some get it, some always got it, some still don't, and that's okay.
As for you (edit: directed at doc, as I can see this is unclear given I had quoted martin earlier), I've told you before I have no problem with you nor do I think the hillbilly dumbass is truly who you are, but you do tend to do yourself no favors in dispelling it. If you're done with it and putting it behind you, good for you. I think you're a lot better than that.
Anyone can write the occasional illegible post, when busy, tired, frustrated, or stressed. But take the time to go back and proofread once before you hit post and you'll eliminate a good junk of the "doc posts like a braindamaged hick" perception. Whatever the poindexters say about the living language, the effort you put into writing clearly does matter to others. If I have to struggle to get your point, it doesn't matter at all that the point was still made when the impression made by the effort is so negative.

To be honest, I mostly skip posts with really bad grammar/spelling; it never seems worth it to me to piece together what the member was trying to say. Historically, Doc's posts have 100% of the time fallen into this category for me.

She's good, growing well, still super cute. I'm actually feeding her right now, hence being up at 4am my time. PiS loves being home with her so much, I don't think he would be going to work if there was any other way for us to survive.
