I should not be gendercentric. This one is for you, guys. It's anonymous.
I am sorry I am becoming the depressant of the boards.

An incident of semi-involuntary doctor-type play when I was around five or six. Kids around my same age
Other than that, I'm not quite sure. You see I have absolutely no memories surrounding my Confirmation at age 10. Until quite recently I thought it was because I was too young, but I'm beginning to wonder if I've suppressed everything to do with the Canon involved...

Never suffered it directly. Tried to help a few people through it, and as I mentioned in the other thread, suffered through the suicide of a good friend because of it.

Nothing mind-scarring happened to me, though it could have if I hadn't fled that guy. At the time, I didn't really understand what it was all about, just that I never wanted to ever see that man again. Had I known more about how depraved adults can be, and what I avoided, it could have been a trauma. Ignorance is bliss!
Thankfully I am not Catholic, Baptist, from Arkansas, or a Republican. There's no call for anyone to have been raping me as a child.
Seriously though, my parents spent a lot of time "street-proofing" us as kids, so we knew to bolt at the first sign of potential trouble. Can't say it ever happened though.

Once when I was around 10 years old, it was an older boy in my neighborhood. Invited me into his house when his family wasn't there, pinned me against the arm of the couch. I've dealt with it and moved on(notably by writing a lot and beating the living shit out of the guy when I was around 20 years old).

 fuck. I had not expected to see those results. How wrong I was in my ideas.
I am so, so sorry to see this lads.:( My heart goes out to you. I wish you all much, much strength, and self-love, and love from other good people.

Looks like there were a few who got into the "no" category only because they managed to flee the scene. Scary stuff.
Edit: Though I'm glad to see that we're below even the reported stats, never mind the estimated ones. I'm also left to wonder how much of a "I don't talk about this" mentality there is -- even with an anonymous poll.

I guess I'm in the lucky camp. I've never had to deal with it, nor has anyone I know IRL (to my knowledge).

I too managed to avoid that trauma.
Looking at the numbers it seems that the notion that the amount of sexual victimization is equal amongst genders does not hold out, at least not for our group.

Some things it's good to be wrong about. :) Though it's kind of worrisome how many close calls there are listed among those who avoided that trauma. "There but for the grace of God, go I..."
Back in highschool I did a paper on the subject of teen suicide. Looking at the suicide rates of teens in North America, and the percentage of teens that studies claimed had "suicidal thoughts" at some point or another, or "seriously considered" suicide as an option, I set up a survey of students -- where their responses allowed for total anonymity, of course -- to see how a sample from my school matched up with the supposed averages.
Either the problem was grotesquely exaggerated, or the kids at my school were unusually stable. The numbers came in at a fraction of what was expected.
Not that I'm saying anything about the results here: just that the results remind me of that project.
