Giveaway of the Day - MultiStage Recovery 3.6
September 6, 2007

MultiStage Recovery is professional data recovery software for Windows. It can recover files from hard disks, floppy disks, flash drives, digital camera cards, and other digital storage devices.

With comprehensive detection, the software finds EVERYTHING that can be restored and it is ableto salvage files even in the most difficult cases when you re-formatted a FAT drive with NTFS or vice versa. The application is extremely easy-to-use, and no special skills are required. It supports ALL Windows file systems including NTFS/NTFS5, FAT12/16/32.

I've downloaded and activated this, and was hoping to give a quick thumbs up or down, but that will be a while in coming. My portable drives have little to nothing to recover. I reformat them and overwrite them often. My external drives only have data I purposely put on them to save. So, I'm left with testing this on my actual internal hard drive, and it's big so this is going to take some time. So far, it seems to be working fine. It's got an easy interface and is a breeze to use.

Honestly, whether or not this recovers anything significant this seems like a real no-brainer of a Giveawayoftheday, and I hope folks haven't become inured to seeing the offers posted. This could be of significant use to a LOT of people here, especially folks I've seen recently talking about lost pics.

So, I went ahead and posted this extremely unhelpful non-review as way of a "bump".

Yeah, that one is potentially useful.

A few minor quibbles:

The application cannot be resized, minimized or moved once you start a recovery, so make sure you set it conveniently before you hit go. There also is no "pause" or restart function, and if you decide to change the search parameters, you have to start again from scratch.

None of these are deal-breakers, obviously, just annoyances.

None of these are deal-breakers, obviously, just annoyances.also very good things to know, :) thanks for passing the word.

From the review it looks like this version is an improvement from the last version they put up on giveawayoftheday, so that's good at least. It mentioned some of the same annoyances that you did as well, so hopefully the authors will take it into consideration for the next version. :)
