Attention, cadets! I am currently undecided on whether or not to keep the current Karma and grey reputation system as is! I remain unimpressed by both what we have now and what we had before! I am asking you for your feedback and thoughts, so I might go about ignoring you as usual or possibly honoring you with my consideration!
Hop to it! I want to hear it! Go go go go go!

I prefer having a measure of whether my efforts are reaching folks.
I prefered the old rep system for that.
The Karma system is ephemeryl and abstract and doesn't serve teh purpose I like.
It's your house, do what you want with it (but at least get the Hippy to wash !)

The Karma is a fun toy but it could go. I do however enjoy the rep being gray...it allows me to send a quick message without the hassle of the drama. Of course I could just pm them, but I am a lazy fucker who doesn't like to click more than she has to or be taken away from a thread I am enjoying. I'M LAZY!

The anonymity of Karma makes it ripe for abuse, but unless folks actually utilize it, it doesn't work. Of course, the way it's currently being used, folks are either REALLY REALLY AWESOME!!+5+5+5+5 or SUCKAGE DIEDIEDIEDIE-5-5-5-5.
And that's just silly.
Well, you all know my opinion on the subject already. :o
How did you get positive again? We'll have to fix that.
Can we see who gave us -bad karma ?

Whooo-hooo!!! Watch the Karma fly!
Folks are having fun with it now.

The current system encourages anonymity.
I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's what it is.
And I don't like being one of the 10 most hated posters.
lol - somehow i'm on that list too, even though only one person gave me bad karma!

Fuck the bozos. Do what feels good. When they whine about it, show 'em your money shot and laugh while they look for napkins.

I'm happy with whatever you want to do. However, I guess I am one of the culprits (the only culprit?) as to why the system is as it is now. So take that what its worth.

See I'm so lazy I can't even write an opinion for myself! ;)

The karma's interesting, but it hasn't exactly clicked for me yet. I like the grey rep just fine though. I remember one of the NTL incarnations having nothing but positive rep...you couldn't neg rep anyone. That could work too.

I've got no opinion on the karma/rep system. I'm fine with whatever is or is not implemented.

Most people used reputation as "instant feedback", so rep score became an indication of who elicited the most feedback responses. If that's what you want, go ahead; but to me it's as meaningful as postcount.
Karma is more honest.

[attention whore]BUT HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF IF I DON'T GET POSI-REP FOR POSTING PICS OF MY BOOBIES!![/attention whore]
I like the karma as an instant feedback tool, but I started on an incarnation that had no rep and that was fine by me. Whatever makes mistress kay happy is all good in my books....

It's all on a curve, man. Averages are reached over time. Even so, in a community that's chiefly positive, even people who are well-liked could end up on that list. When even the people on the "naughty" list have positive karma scores, it's probably a sign that the community as a whole is pretty mellow and supportive. :)
As for my opinion: I'm fine with it, I'm fine without it. S'all good.

I prefer the old system. We don't have enough users for the current system to have a lot of merit IMO. The new one is fun to play with, but more pointless than the old one even.

It might work better if everyone gave everyone else a karma rating. But, that isn't going to happen. Especially since you have to wait a while before repping (karming?) someone after giving it to someone else.

Yeah, the delay is annoying and pretty pointless since you're not rating posts, but posters.

I don't use either one much...
I don't mind 'em, or anything, I just don't use 'em. A lot like I don't post all that much.

Is there any system where you can give an electric shock of different degrees to a poster for their post or an orgasm of different degrees to another poster for their post?
Because I think that system would be really special.

Rep being grey allows us to fire off quick comments, and that's cool. It also prevents LoP style rep-whoring.
So far I'm not seeing that Karma is meaningful. Perhaps over time it would become so--perhaps not.
So I guess I'm ok with anything you want to do, Mistress Kay, but I hope you don't take away our ability to rate posts entirely.

Bring back Rep, the current system won't tell who gave you "bad Karma" so you know who you pissed off.
BTW a fuckin' reply to a PM would be nice, you know who I'm talking to, get your panties out of it's perpitule wad toward me.

After a bit of thought, I think I see the use of karma as a tool for noobs. I mean -- really -- unless somebody is powerfully delusional, they're going to know pretty much where they stand in this community. Old-timers have pretty established relationships.
A noob who staggers in, though, and has dealings with one or more members of the board, can get a quick view as to what they're dealing with. Highly controversial? Perhaps they just go off on people without reason now and again, or have crossed the line in noteable ways in the past.
Or maybe the highest karma score wins a lolipop. :)

Now if I can just perfect my net-based missile delivery system, I'm sure I could re-tool it for lolipops.

I liked the old rep system, where you got pos and neg rep, but the rep comments were viewable to everyone.
So long as people can put up with K_o_S's whining, I want the old system back.

I like the rep system for quickly giving people a comment, acknowledging my agreement with what they say, let them know I found something funny or thoughtful or tasteless. Like you would nod, or laugh, or shake your head in a conversation, just a quick sign of how you feel without actually stating something in the conversation yourself. It does not matter to me if it is red and green or grey, but just the option is appreciated.

I do not know how to use the karma. it sort of confuses me. I liked how the rep was before and I like how it is now because I never really took the rep to mean too much other than I agree or disagree with something you said. But sometimes that is nice.
I trust whatever system you feel is best. Sorry I am not much help.
