Embedding videos?

So I notice that when most other posters post YouTube urls they immediately get embedded, but when I post the URL it just comes up as a URL link. Am I doing something wrong?

I also noticed that when I was quoted in the canada thread the video was embedded in Winslow's post, but not in mine. Is it just me or is there something not clicked in on my account.

It's not a big deal. I've noticed it for a while and haven't mentioned before. I'm just being whiny today.

They are probably using the media tag and you are probably not.

Yeah, I suspect you're using the url tag, with the [*URL="blahblah"*]blahblah[*/URL*] (minus the asterisks) instead of the media tag, which looks like [*MEDIA*]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuNnYvIdEo[*/MEDIA*] (minus the asterisks) and embeds like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxUulGkLu4I

Media tag button on your post will be a bright blue capital M on the end of the row or tag buttons. Just paste your video url between the tags, simple as that!

Ah, okay. I was getting confused because when I quote people I get what you see above (sans asterix) and didn't realize it should be [media] instead of [url]. All clear now.

By default, the forum changes video links in quotes to [url] from [media], and I suppose that's to keep people from absentmindedly quoting threads with videos and making things load slower than they need to.
