http://www.nbc.com/Journeyman/Seen commercials, and I liked the male lead when he was in Rome and Kingdom of Heaven, so I'd like to give it a try.

Might be interesting, but it's NBC Monday at 10. It will get no advertising, but be an excellent show, and end up cancelled as a result.
Fuckers.

The pilot is going to be released free on Amazon for download in a week or two apparently before it airs.

Well, it sure didn't help Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

If you've got a great scifi lead, it's good a draw for another scifi show. It's not a good draw for some metrosexual-appealing soap.

This show is basicly an updated spin on Quantum Leap. It might actually be good but the pilot is too complex for mainstream America so there is a good chance it will die fast and quiet. People don't seem to want to take the time to delve into a complex show on network TV.

That is basically what the local paper said in its review. However, it was quite positive on Reaper and Pushing Daisies.

Payola is alive and well.I don't doubt it, but there is also the issue of the public shying away from programs that might require them to think and remember ongoing storylines as they have been taught that such a show will either end after 3 episodes or take multi-month breaks, and I'm not sure how many people want to try new shows like that with the recent history of the networks.

umm, not sure about that - they panned Bionic Women (which is arguably the biggest thing being pushed by the networks)
Could be that Journeyman is, well, just not that good.

What about Lost ? I don't like the show but it's so convuluted it makes my head hurt (or soaps for that matter)

Could be that Journeyman is, well, just not that good. Granted, but other shows were in the past and didn't make the cut too.

What about Lost ? I don't like the show but it's so convuluted it makes my head hurt (or soaps for that matter)Very true, but I'm not sure how many new fans are jumping on board with the show, there were and are a whole pile of near-rabid fans that do a lot to keep the show on the air. For myself I wonder how many ongoing shows with storylines like Lost I'm willing to try keeping up with. (I gave up on Lost after the 1st season and haven't really tried getting back into it.)
Lost me (pun intended) after the first show. Why are the critics panning Bionic Woman BTW ?

All action, no character development. Like the Transporter
They say, it would work better as a movie not as a serialized drama - of course, that can come later in the series.

I am going to give Bionic woman a chance. It is done by the people who did the new Battlestar Galactica which ROCKS! So on that merit alone I will give BW as much rope as possible to develop. I think it is hard to tell how good any show is going to be from the pilot. Especially this type of show. They want to pack in as much action up front to grab fans and go from there.

And the show lost a LOT of fans and ratings last season. It was one of the biggest disappointments of the season. Heroes probably played into that, but the convoluted nature across seasons of Lost didn't help any either. It'll be interesting to see if they can regain that audience this season. I find that a bit unlikely though.

Well they killed off one of their most popular characters in the season finale. I have most of the season recorded but haven't watched more than about 4 or 5 episodes of it. I used to love the show but they keep pissing me off by dropping storylines and not answering questions while giving you new ones.
From what I can tell of Journeyman he travels back and forth in his own life for some reason but i don't think it's with the intent of correcting mistakes. He also seems to bounce in and out time periods unconsciously which has him confused and crazed so it's a little different from Quantum Leap in that regard.
I'll have to watch it because Kevin McKidd has become one of my favorite actors after 2 seasons of Rome and I like thinky shows. Hell, I'll promote almost anything that's not another American Idol or survivor clone. I'm sick to death of the airwaves being filled with reality shows.

Ditto. I caught the lead in the BBC mini "Jekyl" and thought she did a good job. Plus, BW is just one of those concepts (like "Flash Gordon") that I'm willing to give a chance when they try to resurrect it.

Okay, so I caught this after Heroes last night. I'm kind of torn. It is very Quantum leap but without the hokey aspect of jumping into someone else's body. But I liked Quantum Leap, I have fond memories of watching it with my dad and it was damned entertaining.
This show does have some pretty solid acting going for it and some interesting characters. The interplay with the main character's wife and brother is interesting and catching glimpses of what happened in their personal past is actually a good hook. I'm not sure the show will last but I'm willing to give it another episode and see how I like it.

Did you catch that his wife was in love with him at his engagement party to another woman and while she was dating his older brother?

You catch when she's making her toast and when he comes "back" and is talking to his fiance. The wife looks at his longingly when he kisses his ex girlfriend. They also dropped in a nice tidbit with his affection for his wife as he winced watching her kiss his brother.

So did anyone else keep watching this offhand? It looks like there are two more episodes, and last I heard they were going with a wrap-up, but still leaving it open for a 2nd season.

I've seen everything that's been aired so far. Turned out to be a pretty good show -- one of my top picks for the season. There are two more episodes left to air. There's no way they'll wrap everything up, and that's fine. I hope there is some resolution to a couple of things, though.

I really enjoyed what I was able to see of the season, kept getting phonecalls right in the middle of episodes. :(
I'm not sure if I think it's as good of a show for McKidd as Rome was (at least the first season) but I think it's going to be a good solid line on his resume, and I'd sure watch the first few episodes of a 2nd season to give it a chance. :) I'm looking forward to seeing him as Thor if those rumors pan out.

damn... and to think that the whole thing was caused by him dropping a digital camera... The tech from the reverse engineering is damn cool however. Same with the star chart info about his birthday...
talk about a situation with no non-sucking choices
I just loved his line at the end, Is that my fault? :D
