View Full Version : Hamburgertime! What should I get?

Okay, so ever since I had mouth surgery, I can't really bite into anything that requires using the front teeth (apples, hamburgers, tacos, etc).
Anyway, I was finally able to bite into a burrito last night without any discomfort.
I've been looking forward to getting a burger when I'm fully functional in the mouth, and that day has arrived. What kind of burger should I get for lunch today to finally quench cravings that I've had since a day or two after I had the surgery three weeks ago?

Excellent, excellent call my friend. Unfortunately the closest one is a bit too far out of the way for my lunch break today.

Hold off and hit it for dinner.
If its your first burger in a while then you really owe it to yourself to make it an excellent one rather than a good one.

You're presenting a strong case here. I have an hour and a half to determine if I think I can wait six more hours for a burger...

Now that I mentioned the excellent burger you really have no choice as anything else you eat will pale in comparison.
Your fate was writ long ago my friend.

I totally forgot about Jumbo Jacks (or Sourdough ones, if that's your 'thang'), and an In'n'Out Double Double (ha ha at all your poor, sad east coasters). But yes, Fuddruckers is looking more and more like the only true choice, whilst all others are sad, pale imitations of the real thing.

You can't really beat a double double. Get some animal style fries to go with it and a shake to numb your teeth if you feel slight discomfort while eating...

The votes for Double Double's (from people elsewhere/at work and here) are starting to pile up....

The only way you can go wrong with a double double is by not eating it.

Hell, I may just drive over to In-n-Out and grab one myself. If you're feeling really frisky, get yourself a 4x4.

If you can find a reliable butcher with fresh meat from healthy cattle, I'd say go with steak tartare. There's nothing to compare with that tender sweet flavor and it will be easy to chew and digest. My father used to prepare those sandwiches for us when I was a child with meat from the neighborhood butcher (excellent ground chuck) on rye bread with sliced onion. It melted in one's mouth.

If you have a local chain that make as good burgers as Fudruckers, go for it. Otherwise, I think Limper has the right idea.

I always support going for the independent (mind you, I've never heard of at least half the chains you speak of anyway).
Now you have to let us know what you ended up having (with pics!).

Man, if you go the butcher route, why not just have a mcnastywich for lunch and get a porterhouse t-bone for dinner. MMmmmm.
As for the mcnastywich, do they have Wendy's Baconators where you live? Or you could always try ordering a Mcgangbang (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dskillzhtown/3088876242/)

I can't even believe that you have "Whopper" and "Big Mac" on the list.
Those things are car accidents rather than burgers. They are only acceptable in the face of severe hangover, and you're too old for that shit.
Go get a properly made burger. If you're paying less than 10 bucks for the burger on it's own, it's made from sawdust and the parts of the horses they grind up that noone else will eat.

That's what I was going to suggest. We don't have Jack-in-the-Box here. Don't pass it up just because you see them every day. Someday, you might find you don't have one and you'll be sorry then!

Double Double with Animal Style fries from In N Out. Worth the wait. Mm, mm, good.
I didn't take pictures because that didn't occur to me. Sorry about that. Those of you who have never eaten In N Out, I feel sorry for your mother and all that. But take a trip out west to try one, for serious.
