For new years?

Since we have the three kids and no baby sitter we will be in this year. So I need to find excitement from everyone else's plans. So what are you all doing this evening.

I'm playing in an outdoor gig in front of thousands of people.

:D

Sorry that you're stuck buddy. I remember when my kids where young and I had to make those kind of compromises.

Working all day at one job, then all night at the other.

Friends and kids are coming over to play boardgames, eat food, watch the ball drop, toot little horns, pop poppers, and drink something sparkly which I don't think has any alcohol in it. There will be lots of kissing and probably another incriminating picture of me with Caliphis.

Going out on New Years is a bad idea. It's like amateur night. Everyone who doesn't know how to drink and party correctly goes out and gets sloppy, plus cops are out in droves looking to give out DUI's and drunk in publics (whether you are actually drunk or not).

So, I'm staying in with my lady friend. We bought a bunch of champagne and Sparks, and we're going to bang pots and pans and otherwise make a nuisance of ourselves come midnight. Good times.

I think I'll be in bed. I got sick. Earache, sore throat, sinus pressure and I nice pounding headache to go with it. :grey: I'm going to go to work then see my doctor if I can get in today. My 4yr old is probably the one who gave it to me.

Hope you feel better soon, LF! Sounds like those little ones give your immune system a regular workout!

We are having a nice dinner, watching a movie and probably opening a nice bottle of bubbly at midnight.

I'll be ok. This is just a minor annoyance. I've been much sicker. I'm just being smarter about it this time by getting to the doctor before it has the chance to knock me on my ass.

I hope you all have a happy new year! I am very happy and grateful to our mods and board owners for giving us such a wonderful internet home.

I have to be at work from about 5am till 3 pm tomorrow... I get time and half for hours worked plus 8 holiday pay but I'd still rather not do it.

Staying home this year. I just lost a pet on Christmas Eve to carry on the various reasons why I hate the holidays and considering how depressed over the season I am anyway, and then adding that on... I would probably do something stupid and drink myself dead. Safer to just stay away from booze and the drunks at home.

Tomorrow I have company coming so let's here it for the new year however!

Just waking up now from our big night. We had everyone at out place (30 or so people) since it's the only way we can catch up with all our different groups of friends. A crazy amount of food was brought by everyone (including curry puffs, a gingerbread house, an icecream cake & a cheese cake apart from the usual chips and chocolate) and crazy amounts of booze were consumed (including fruit punch that tastes great but is 98% alcohol, mohitos & daquiris). Overall fun times, although one of our outdoor chairs got broken. We tried to clean up mostly before we went to bed, so there's not too much to do this morning thank goodness, as I have to go to work at 3pm.

Hope you all had a good time at your various events!

Well, we were lucky indeed weather-wise! About -4 degrees (c). A few flurries.

Now that was an experience of a lifetime. We played in front of maybe 5000 people, the crowd was ecstatic, and so was I. My biggest gig so far.

It was also the first time my son saw me perform, I doubt I'll be able to top that in his eyes. :)

Went to bed at 10pm or so.
Big party on the 2nd instead. Sister is coming down from Alaska so party was moved to then.

We have been visiting my family over christmas and new year; so yesterday was spent at my parents' house with my sister and her cats, my brother's cat (they are in the US and their house is near all the big clubs and pubs of the area so Fireworks Central), my aunt and uncle, my parents, and the Cartographer and me. It was good fun though there weren't many fireworks; we had sparklers and according to my uncle we looked a very pathetic bunch shivering on the street in a dark huddle with our little sparklers. :) It was nice catching up, and we played Pink Floyd at maximum volume at midnight.

As stated, we stayed in and had a fun party by ourselves! Pic coming in that thread I made when KT first opened. (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/showthread.php?t=442&page=73)
