These writers are geniuses.

That show is incredible, but I was feeling it was getting tame, and it might have become campy. Loose it's edge. By ending it like this, they kick-started it like nobody's business.

My wife felt shocked, but I explained to her that the show until now was dealing with Dexter's demons, and how he can overcome them, slowly but progressively building a pyramid of cards until the whole pyramid was complete, at which point there would be nothing more to tell.

But right before the writers put the final card on top of the pyramid, they simply knock it down, and they can start from scratch, with a whole new pyramid to build.

How will Dexter react to this horrific situation? Obviously his dark side will want to jump on this opportunity to get more control. But he's also a father, so his balancing act will be multiplied tenfold.

No, I think the writers are just fucking brilliant, and this shows they will stop at nothing to push the limits. Bravo.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dexters Kills became a little more brutal and drawn out in the next season
