An acquaintance of mine would claim otherwise. She tells that one bit her in her sleep whilst camping. Apparently, she got bitten directly on a nerve on her arm and still can't feel part of her hand.

Of course, this woman is a drama queen the likes of which this place has yet to witness. No, seriously. I've lost track of the number of times she's done a "look at me" stunt that'd make Scut, NZorak, and LoP look like amatuers. Only, she pulls this shit live and in person.

I read that brown recluses often bite people in their sleep.
The spider crawls onto the person in search of food. The person moves in his or her sleep, and starts crushing the spider. The spider bites in self-defense.

I hope your friend's feelings return to her hand. I hope she is ok. I am told only 1 out of 10 brown recluse bites produce any kind of strong effect, but that 1 out of 10 can be nasty.

I've personally known a number of folks who ended up with Brown Recluse bites in just that manner. Including one fellow, this past year, who managed to get a bite inside his lower lip.

Sam is much better now, but he just moved back to Illinois, and about as far north in Illinois as the job could get him for now.
