Props to the Mexican consul for not being reactionary, I was delighfully surprised.

Nazi Group To Protest Illegal Immigration In Omaha

Omaha, NE - A major Omaha road may be shut down this weekend by Nazis.

The National Socialist Movement will shut down Dodge street Saturday to protest illegal immigration. The Nazi protest at the Mexican Consulate is becoming a cause for community concern. So much concern in fact, the white supremacist group will receive a police escort in and out of Omaha as well as police security during the event according to both the consulate and protestors.

"I have seen every kind of demonstration from pro to totally contrary so they are totally within there right to do it," says Consul Jose Luis Cuevas.

His calm demeanor may be unexpected but it couldn't be more opposite of the National Socialist Movement. The white supremacist group planning to crowd the streets around Cuevas building.

"This is not Mexico and we don't want it to be Mexico," says Col. Tim Bishop with the National Socialist Movement.

Illegal immigration threatens the self described Nazi group's main goal.

"The preservation and the promotion of the white Arian Caucasian people," says Bishop.

Only the swastika emblazoned protest against illegal immigrants will happen outside the one place in Omaha Mexicans can obtain legal identification.

"I guess because it has a Mexican flag out front or they misinterpret what we do," says the Consul.

"They're telling people to come here. They're telling people where they can get social services. They're telling people how to exploit the system," says Bishop.

The consul's concern is not the demonstration but the potential for violent public reaction and damage to his building.

"A counter demonstration is not productive in any way and that's exactly what these people are looking for."

"Everything pro-white is racist. They've forced us into this extremist political position. And so they give us no other option so they should not be surprised with this rally," says Bishop.

Am I missing something, or is this kind of redundant?

Redundant and misspelled.

At least they're not in Chicago. I hate Illinois nazis.

And stupid, too. The "whities are from the Caucasus Mountains" thing is actually dubious.

That said, for those for whom it matters, "Aryan" is considered a subgroup of Caucasian.
The 4th edition of Meyers Konversationslexikon (Leipzig, 1885-1890) shows the "Caucasian race" (in blue) as comprising "Aryans", "Semites" and "Hamites". "Aryans" are further sub-divided into "European Aryans" and "Indo-Aryans" (the latter corresponding to the group now designated Indo-Iranians). (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasian_race)

So, if you follow outdated and disproven ideas put forth by some people in the Prussian Empire during the 19th century, then yes, "White Aryan Caucasian" is correct and not exactly redundant. It's just reciting the taxonomy. Makes as much sense as saying "my pet is a mastiff dog mammal vertebrate animal."

More nutjobs clamoring for attention. I wonder if they realize the contradiction of calling themselves socialists while wearing swastikas.

I dunno, it worked pretty well for the National Socialist German Workers Party. Well, until they lost that war and kinda got ruined.

Yup. Die Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. Which can be translated as the German Workers' National-Socialist Party. Said like that, it sounds like a bunch of commies, what with being the Workers' Socialist Party.

The actual Nazis never called themselves Nazis. They were Nationalsozialisten. It was their opponents who used that shortened nickname.

I should probably know better than to believe anything in a political movements name.

Truth. How often are "conservatives" actually interested in conservation? How often are "liberals" actually interested in liberties? It's like a shell game, trying to guess what their philosophies are.

I still can't figure out how the revolutionary "Tory" party (named after a bunch of Irish bandits, no less), evolved into the Conservatives

If I learned anything from the blatherings of young liberal college students it's that Socialism is wonderful and anyone that is against socialism is a nazi fascist!!! :D

and do you think that is an accident or by design? Some of both perhaps?

They're actually named after cattle drovers, unless you really think "wig" used to be spelled with an h. A whiggamoor is a cattle (or maybe horse?) drover.

It has something to do with semi-obscure Scottish politics and the fall of the Stuarts and other such wacky happenings of the distant and ancient past, of course.

hey!

I remember that I serve the Canadian public almost every day. Then again, I'm trying to protect their health from long term threats (ie, if I screw up, a 100, or 10 000 more Canadians could get cancer... and I would never know), so it's a bit of a heavier responsibility than some paper pushing job.

as far as the OT goes, the Mexican consul showed a lot of class.
