Has anyone else here seen this movie? I just finished watching it. If you have a child that is not "normal" by societies standards, then this movie is a must see. I think for me it opened my eyes to what kids can control and what they can't. The movie is about a little girl who has obsessive compulsions that she can't stop doing and tries to hide the more severe compulsions from her parents so they won't worry about her. The movie also concentrates on what makes Phoebe so special and why her mom doesn't want to her to change. Phoebe's imagination and intelligence are nurtured by her mom and her drama teacher. The magic in that little girl's eyes would light up a room.
Here's the movie trailer.

Does anybody else get creeped out by the families that whore out all their children to show biz? This is Dakota Fannings little sister.
I am saying nothing against the kid, or the film. I frankly don't know about either. Just disturbs me when I notice siblings being pushed into these high stress, high show casing careers at such young ages.

Maybe the child is talented and has a desire to express herself much like her sister. Maybe in the world of this family, theater and acting are as available options of creativity and expression as dance classes and art camp would be for other families.
Maybe............

I don't disagree that those are strong possibilities. It just creeps me out in general. Especially after seeing how many child stars have been over sexualized from an early age and then the problems they have after. I just wouldn't want to put multiple children through that, if even one. But this is a personal bias, and my kid wouldn't want anything to do with it anyway.

I see your point of view on this Lady_A. I wouldn't ever think of pushing my children into acting unless they truly wanted to do it. My 5yr old loves entertaining people. She loves to perform for everyone. Some kids are like that. My others don't like to perform nearly as much.
