Good times...

Dude that sucks.

Dude that sucks.
From what I can tell, it is a paradox.
Y'see it both sucks and blows at the very same instant.
Sort of like a jet engine if you will...
Luckily the Mrs. took it surprisingly rationally well.
It looks like I will take the rest of the week off to
de-tox and then begins:
JOB-HUNT 2009: The WORKENING!!!1

Thanks for the sympathies folks.

I feel your pain. I'm still searching for a good enough job ever since I got laid off in February.
You have my sympathies.

Snatch

Sorry to hear that. Did you get a reasonable redundancy payment to help things along until you get a new job ... or does the US not run to such Marxist ideas? ;)
Best of luck in finding a new job.

Sorry for the layoff. I'm sure it wasn't welcome news, but I hope that something better is on the horizon for you.

Once again thanks for the well-wishes.
I worked in the customer service field namely for a client who
deals with charities and their online financial activities.
I have an improbably vast array of job skills and experience.
I think I'm going to look under the local Hotel/Motel rocks and see
if any are hiring. I have a ton of experience in that field.
Good luck man, hope something opens up for you real soon. In a perfect world, soon enough that you still have a nice severance cushion to cash in on.
Dr. Paragon

The closest I'm getting to severance is my PTO which accumulated
to 3 1/2 days last I looked. So no "Golden Parachute" for this Ninja.
Man, some places have inhuman labor laws.

Best of luck in finding a new job.
He gets to collect unemployment insurance for at least 6 months, i believe. If you make a decent amount of money this gov't payment will amount to less than half of what he was previously receiving. Still, better than nothing.
edit: and sorry to hear you lost your job doc.

>>Shrug...
This kind of shit is like the weather. Y' never know how the
winds gonna' blow or how long it'll be dry.
Thrice again thanks for the support.
It's been about 33 hours since I got my pink slip and I'm
going through the natural cycle of such things. Basically
a random pattern of hurt feelings, anger, and WTF?
I'm taking the rest of this week to pollish up the 'Bona Fides'
and calm down, then I will hit the bricks.

If you want any advice on the resume send me a copy. I've had to hire people so I have an idea about what the 'red flags' are.

Hey man, you'll be fine.
This happened to me in '06, when our software center was closed.
It was a scary time - but in the end, it was the best thing that could have happened. My new job is better, and now I'm a more senior bloke with a brighter future.
You'll do fine. People want to hire folks who aren't total social freaks, which... you aren't right? ;) There are jobs for the good folks, even thesedays.
