Training is going well. My boss is awesome! I think I'm going to really like having my own class and I get to come up with my own class work as long as the state requirements are emphasized. The videos they have for drivers ed are a lot better then what I had back when I was going through the course. We have Dateline videos, Ford safety videos and a few others that were holding the kids attention. I'm sure I'll get sick of them after a few weeks but it was good to see that the kids were actually paying attention and asking questions. The simulators are very amusing. They don't do the kind I had which were the go cart size standard transmission simulators that you actually sit in and operate like a carnival ride. They get what looks like a video game but with really cheesy commentary.
I have one more class here in Wally World then I head back home to do some more training the rest of the week. I hope my background check comes back quickly because I want to be able to take my drive and written test by the middle of July. I have to get a 90% to get my teaching certification. I need to practice driving the right way.

Glad you are enjoying the training. We're looking forward to tales of crazy student drivers and your narrow escapes!

What about the kids? Is it still golden then?

I'm sure I'll have lots of tales to tell. I think my driving anxiety has finally gone away. I didn't freak out driving to Walla Walla and I went over 2 large bridges and drove in the rain here on a long winding grade down the snake river valley.

I'm sure I'll be bouncing a lot of ideas off you all as I get to figuring out how I'm going to teach a class full of teens.

I'm heading back to Pullman this afternoon. I'm really missing my kids. I didn't think that being away for a few days without them would tug at my heart. It'll be good to be back home.

If your kids' poop is golden, you should probably call a doctor.

... Ford safety videos...
Hold on to those. They may be collector items in the next year or so.

Well this really sucks. I had a talk with the gal who is the wife to the guy who hired me and found out that I'll only be receiving 8-10hrs of work during the school years since I have to split time with the other gal they hired. That won't be enough hours for me. I told her husband that I'd accept the job if I was able to get 18-20hrs minimum a week otherwise it won't be enough to pay my bills. So I sent off an email today after I got done with 5hrs of training today. I feel bad that I have to turn this down but at the same time I have to have a certain amount of income coming in to cover my bills. And they way the schedule is set up I couldn't take a second job to cover the difference. :(

Sorry to hear that - but you've got to do what is in you best interest.

I knew I'd have fun with the job but I can't work a job just for the fun of it right now because I have way too many expenses to deal with. I did apply for another job at the university. I hate this job searching business. This sucks. But I'm sure something will come my way that will work better for my family.

Did you ever hear about the retail job? and what does this mean to your job hunt? Sorry that things are not working.

I turned it down for this job. I thought this one would be enough but apparently I was mislead. I'm back to the drawing board. I applied to another job at the university a few days ago. There are other options out there still, I hope. I'll be fine. It's better for me to get out of this situation now then to wait until the school year starts up and then leave them high and dry so to speak.

How disappointing especially after doing all that training.

The training was fun and I think I learned a few things from it so it wasn't a total loss.

Aw, bugger. Stupid of them too, to hire and train you when you already said you'd need at least that amount of hours. :(
