So, I was having a little bit of trouble with the Dramatic Hooks of two of the PCs in my campaign. "Wanted for a crime he certainly did commit" looks great on paper, but continually sending the cops after him didn't work for me. "Teetotaler trained by a Drunken Master" is a wonderful Risus cliche, but what the hell do I do with it?
So I decided that, in the 205x juncture, these two PCs are Water Margin or Robin Hood style folk heroes. The details of what they did/will do keep changing with every Critical Shift, but they save a lot of lives and are generally heroic during the unspecified catastrophe that marks the end of the Ascended's dominance of the planet and the beginning of the rise to power of the Architects. TV series are dedicated to their adventures.
At this point experienced Feng Shui GMs (particularly those with "Seeds of the New Flesh") may have a horrid feeling about what I'm planning. You're right
You see, as a population control measure, the Architects encourage homosexuality via promoting it in various media. "Buddy movies" take on a whole new meaning. So, in the TV series of their live, the PCs are depicted as being gay. And lovers.
As innocents to the Secret War, I've just had them recruited by the Architects to try and bring about their version of the future. The people who recruited them have grown up on stories of their adventures (which they won't detail for paradox reasons) and don't realise they're not gay ("You're not? But, but...? I'd better change the sleeping arrangements..."/"Maybe they just don't know yet."). I'm planning to reveal it to the PC's while they (the PC's) are watching an episode.
With any other group I'd be crossing the line here, but I've known these guys for ten years
For extra bastardry, time has moved on since Feng Shui was originally released, and we're approaching the time. Guess what? The PC's are going to cause it.
PS: Yesterday, my wife and I were discussing Transformers and she, off the cuff say "Transforming monkey - ook, ook, ook, ook" (like the sound Transformers make when transforming). YOINK!
