My kidlet told me that's she's started reading the Sister's Grimm (http://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Tale-Detectives-Sisters-Grimm/dp/0810993228/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240247694&sr=8-2) series of books (4th to 6th grade) and is really enjoying them. What are your kids reading that' thier enjoying ?

I don't let my kids read. They get wrong ideas from books. That is why God gave us TV, keeps things straight in their little brains.

My niece doesn't like to read, or so she said, which is unacceptable, of course. She the only one old enough right now for me to start molding properly (the other munchkins are too little yet and just stare blankly at me as I go on my tirades over books and then go back to playing once I'm finished).

I bought her A Wrinkle in Time which was the first book I ever read (without pictures, heh) for Christmas and she started reading it just because it was a gift.

She finished it the next night and is almost finished with the entire Quintet. I was going to buy her the Harry Potter books, next, but I think I'm going to get her the Dark is Rising series, first. That series was one of my first and still holds a cherished place in my heart. Wonderful books for kids, in my opinion.

Currently my 7yr old is reading the Black Beauty series that I had when I was a child.

My younger kids have been listening to me read them chapters from the Golden Compass.

I might recommend the Chronicles of Prydain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronicles_of_Prydain)

Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness would be great for your kidlet, doc.

I'm reading my nieces The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman (take off on the Jungle Book, but with ghosts in a graveyard rather than wolves in a jungle). They seem to be enjoying it.

The 12 year old is starting to really get into reading now, because of twilight. Now she's reading all kinds of neat books I've never heard of, mostly fantasy, with strong female characters in them. Her mum's very very happy about this.

no kids, or even appropriately aged nieces or nephews right now, but I work in a book store, and know most of the people from the kids section pretty well

if you're looking fantasy type stuff, there's the rangers apprentice series and the artemis fowl books which are a lot of fun, but I think the other books from the artemis fowl dude are better

A second vote for Artemis Fowl. Those books are great.
