It may seem weak Northcott but he has addressed the most important trend in art today.

Californification fo the young British artists has led to inflation in derivative, unoriginal art to such an extent that gallery owners are pressing stock themselves and changing the fundamental way art is viewed and purchased.

What does one do with a 15 foot long dissected shark? Put in on your mantle? The nearest Art comes to failure is the simple allure of being a museum and gallery driven medium that is seperated from the masses and speaks of an elitism. It has happened a few times in the past couple of centuries and it si usually the predecessor to art making a ginat populist swing.

I, personally, look forward to a backlash of epic proportions (hopefully in my lifetime) similar to impressionist or fauvist changes of sensibitlity.

Hockney!=Hockey. It was meant in fun. One of us is indeed laboring under the misconception that this is NTL, and taking things way too seriously, but it ain't me.
