I've mentioned the Sherwood Forest campaign and the Dragon had at least 2 other Earth campaign ideas since 3e started (the Crusades and the Russian one) have you done one and what was you're soulition for magic ?

Sherwood was easy as for as divine magic, the good guys were either Druids (Hern) or Priests that were Adepts, the bad guys were devil worshippers so they got thiers from Asmodiues (sp).

Arcane was a little tougher but ancient wisdom in tomes for the Wizards and family pacts with evil or the fey for Scorcerers.

Magic Items- Hardly any, I did use an article in the Dragon where items could be bestowed with magic (or magic like) abilities after some monumental occurence. True magic was rare and usually from Fey or demonic orgins.

Probably the simplest solution is to say that arcane magic is witchcraft, and something only the bad guys do. Alternately, you could use some kind of restriction such as insisting that spellcasters *have* to multiclass or just make it an E6 game.

If it were me, I'd say no casters and E6.
