You know, sometimes you just have to make a fucking exception to the precious rules, people!

Boy with cancer trying to keep dogs, home
Wed Aug 22, 7:57 PM
A six-year-old Calgary boy suffering from inoperable cancer is waiting to find out if he can stay in his family's subsidized townhouse, despite breaking a no-pets policy.
Alex Anderson said two strangers who heard of her son Parker's love of pets gave him Rudy and Cooper in June because thought they would be good companions for the boy, who has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
"They get him off his butt playing video games and running around and playing for short periods," she said.
But pets aren't allowed in Calgary Housing Company projects.
Anderson received an eviction notice two weeks ago, but it seems staff with the City of Calgary's affordable housing program have had a change of heart.
She got a call Wednesday morning, offering her a reprieve until a more permanent solution can be found, she said.
Anderson said she has been told by one city official that her family might be relocated. She said she wouldn't mind being moved, as long as the new home has no mould or dust problems that could damage Parker's health.
"I honestly would be happy with Parker, myself and the dogs living in one location, as long as Parker's immune system is guarded and the dogs are well taken care of."
Thankfully it seems like the bureaucrats in question backed off and did the humane thing once they realized what was up. I'd have been all frothy if some officious little twerp had valued some kind of quota over decency here.
