The stepson was on his way home from taking his girlfriend home tonight, sitting in a bus stop chatting with another guy who was waiting for the bus, when a car drove by. He heard two *thud* sounds and saw two blue patterns spread on the glass of the bus stop. It looked exactly like shattering glass so he thought they were bullets. Then he felt one hitting his side.:grey: The other guy was hit in the stomach.
Fortunately they were paintballs, but he has a nasty bruise. What kind of idiots go around shooting people who are standing at bus stops with paintball guns? According to the stepson it happens all the time around here... :boggle:

I think just a month or so ago we had someone in Kansas City go driving around shooting people at bus stops.... with a real gun. :(

That totally sucks, Cat! When I saw this thread I was expecting a news story (which is bad enough), not a real life one!

Wow that had to be a scary moment when he got hit. Thank God it was only paintballs and not worse. As far as who goes around doing stuff like that... Kids with too much time on their hands most likely.

That's what I find scary, I find the idea of doing it with a paintball gun already so fucked up, that I wonder how much it takes to make them think of trying it with a real gun...

We had a strange thing in Albuquerque a couple decades ago - the Drive By Poets. They'd cruise around, get people to roll down their windows, and shout famous poetry at them. Then they'd hit the gas and make a quick, clean getaway, laughing insanely.

Now that is the kind of drive-by I can get behind!

just a few weeks after we moved into this house we had someone shoot paintballs onto my car (now several years ago). Just a few weeks ago the girlfriend found a hunting arrow in the edging plants just below where our front window is.
One of the reasons i moved down here was that someone had shot a .45 through my car in the apartment complex I used to live in. Right through the c-pillar on one side and out through the shattered rear driver's side window. it happened about 11:30 one night about 45 minutes after I parked it. Dad and I figured that the bullet went through about 4 inches from where the drivers' head would have been.
I had to laugh when we were out with the gf's family and they were laughing at the fake bullet hole decals you can get and stick onto your car. "I got a real one in my car..."

.45 tend to be big slow bullets with not that much penetrating power - it could have been a .44 magnum... (not that's any better!). damn.
The worse "personal" story of this kind is a young "punk" shooting out a window of our minivan with a pellet gun when I was younger, on a sunday night. Our youngest sister convinced us not to say anything... and soon enough, said young punk boasted about it to her the following day at school trying to impress her...

it was a big slug, even the cop who came to take the report was impressed. my buddy who lived around the corner heard the shot also. i thought it was someone with fireworks because it happened near Jan 1st; my buddy also thought it was an M-80 fireworks or something like that.
Some of the brats in the complex thought it was funny to drop little pebbles into the body panels through the hole until Dad and I sealed it up with putty. Every time I went around a corner fast those pebbles rattled around. :D

That happened to me about 10 years ago. I was driving home from work around 4 AM in my beat-up Mustang, and a sportscar pulled alongside and shot paintballs at the car. If I hadn't been so exhausted from the overtime, I would have crashed the car by overreacting. It still pisses me off that someone in a much nicer car than mine vandalized my sole asset for fun.
Never take anything smaller then a .40 to a firefight
