Ok that isn't what he really said but it seems to me the rumors of conflict were probably true.

Hopefully this sentiment grows in the GOP. I don't like Palin one bit and would rather she not be a party leader.

All I can say is that alot can change in 4 years. Politics is a funny thing.

(Note, this is not an endorsement either pro or against Palin.....:D)

His position is actually very reasonable basically a "wait and see".

Reading the whole article, not just the bits about Palin, I'm glad that we're at least getting Senator McCain the bipartisan moderate back, I missed seeing him during the election.

Of course having read the Newsweek "How they did it" article about the goings on behind the scenes I understand more about how his campaign wasn't really run by him, more like he was run by his campaign. And I don't disagree that they did what they had to do to try to win. Moderate-straight-shooter McCain had a chance at my vote, but just a chance and a different campaign might have lost him support from the right while gaining only minor ground in the middle.

That woman makes my skin crawl, but I'm sure there are plenty of bottom feeders among the Republican right who won't see past her winking and dropping of "g"s. At least McCain seems to have realized his mistake in retrospect, based on the sort of subtle reticence of his remarks.

I don't think McCain will support her unless she goes through some major changes before the next election.

In my opinion, she is far, far too socially conservative. Her religion doesn't bother me at all, including her prayers for God's will to be done with the campaign, troops, whatever. Just being religious, even to a great degree (and she doesn't seem all that religious to me since I've personally prayed similar prayers myself, often) doesn't matter one way or the other, IMO, and doesn't disqualify her. It's the fact that she believes that social values should be legislated and forced upon others.

Also, she doesn't seem overly bright. Maybe she is; I have no way of knowing how her handlers tried to teach her. It may have just been too much too fast. I tend to doubt it, though. She seems to be hitting the middle of the bell curve. If she comes back later and is whiz on all the issues across the board, my estimate of her intelligence will improve. I don't expect it, though.

I love her stance on gun rights and have to give her major props for being a hunter herself. Also, I think she is a great feminist and a pretty great example to conservative women. I've heard some people say that she isn't a feminist, which is pretty laughable in my opinion since she quite obviously is. Her charm may have turned some people off, but I found it ... charming. When she was delivering her prepared speeches I thought she did very well. When she wasn't, she made me cringe and want to gnaw off one of my own limbs.

Another thing about her I don't like is the fact that I think she is corrupt. I don't like mentality that tells her it's alright to fill positions in her office with friends and family rather than those best qualified and I don't trust her to exercise her authority without involving her personal feelings; I think she would abuse the power of her office for a personal agenda and I'm not sure she even realizes that this shouldn't be done.

And, while she claims to be fiscally conservative, I don't think she really is. If she was, that would at least be a very, very strong point in her favor in my book. It wouldn't counter the social aspect completely, but it would make me really pause and it would earn her a truckload of respect. I think she just talks the talk, though.

In the end, she's just too (as in a LOT) socially conservative, too ignorant, too fiscally irresponsible, and too abusive of her power for me to ever support her. Which is too bad, but that's how it is. I'm forced to regretfully hope for her to get hit by lightning several times in a row before she screws things up by trying to get elected again.
