With two large dogs and a toddler? SUV. Specifically the Hyundai Tuscon -- it's a Hell of a lot more fuel-efficient than we'd have expected, and has a remarkable safety rating. It even performed well in rollover tests. We go through less than a gas of tank a week, and that's with my wife commuting to another town for her job.
I'm hoping to stabalize finances enough that I can pick up a Harley in the next year or two.

Toyota Sienna minivan for us. Three kids and two adults presently, a fourth kid to be added in the near future.

Toyota Rav 4. Living upstate in the snow belt I got stuck with my Camry too many times. Gets pretty good MPG for an SUV. I get about 300 miles to the tank highway and 250 local. I have moved countless friends and myself, and it makes bringing in unusual items for school easy.

Honda Accord for grocery shopping, family trips, and pickup after late-ending classes.
My wife takes the bus to and from UNM every day, excepting those times I need to pick her up because her class or work ends after bus service stops for the evening (8:30, grumble). Why does she take the bus? easy - it's free to all UNM students.

We own a Prius and an old Taurus. The Prius is used most. My wife commutes about 40 miles each day in it (total, not each way). I use the Taurus, but we want to get rid of it soon. It's old and run-down, and it gets horrible mileage.

Let's see...Toyota Highlander. We carpool 95% of the time. Our other car is a Hyundai Elantra. Both get decent gas mileage and we only live about 6 miles from work.
I don't walk as much as I should...it's at least a mile to the nearest grocery store and 1/2 mile to the nearest drugstore. Everything else is further away. :(

We have 2 used Nissan Pulsars, one a hatch and one a sedan. We don't really drive very far these days - I'm the one that drives to work, but it's only about 15 minutes away (just too far to walk, and at times that don't fit in with public transport). A tank of petrol in each car will end up lasting us for at least a fortnight. The hatch has also been awesome for moving stuff around - there's heaps of room in that thing.

Well, I drive a 1992 Ford Bronco. It's big, rugged, and sharp. The gas mileage is not it's best suit, but it makes up for it through comfort, power, and style.

I've seen them before, so it does exist. As to how common it is, or when it was manufactured, I couldn't tell you. From what I understand, the Yaris is the newer/renamed version of it.
