Hey there Bella, Varaj.
I want to try a different avatar. Can you put this girl in my avatar?

You are an Israeli Girl Scout?

No, but I've got a reason - several reasons - for changing my avatar to this girl.

This girl is a Kay Classic.

She is very youthful, feminine, and innocent in appearance, but tough as nails, smart, wise, and accomplished (someone in the Army Scouts, would be.)
She is gentle, loving and caring, but for her enemies she is silent death stalking.

I noticed her "silent-death-stalking" merit badge.

She is visiting the Girl Scouts in Kentucky.
She herself is in the Israeli Army Scouts. This girl is in the military.

So is the guy on the right below. Let's not give too much credit on that basis alone.

Edena--- this is stable mental health. Stable mental health, this is Edena. I see you two haven't spoken in a while, and I thought you might want to get reintroduced.

Uh oh. You shouldn't have said that. No, I'm just going to have to go Edena All Over You.
It's too late to stop it! Too late! You cannot beg, you cannot plead, you cannot atone! The EdenaTrain cometh, and you stand on the tracks glued to the metal. Rail, curse, and weep in vain! :)

By the way, what nationality is that girl? She seems Israeli ...

Uh ... I think I could reasonably expect competency out of the young lady, whereas with that other person you are pointing out ...

She could fly back to Israel without a plane with those ears. You could of at least picked a better looking one.

I picked her precisely because she is still youthful.
She is a girl who has potential, and that potential could well be full realized. Her whole life is ahead of her. The chalkboard has yet to be written on, as it were.
The Human Potential is vast. If this girl can realize that potential, should could become a great scholar, or a great scientist, a great leader, and yes ... a great heroine. Not to mention, she could bring many new lives into this world, and they will have all the Potential of Humanity themselves.

She is not the most beautiful girl I could have picked? True enough. But she was one of the most honestly down-to-earth *human* girls I could have picked. She isn't posing. This isn't a model shoot. She's just visiting her fellow scouts and had her picture taken. It's the least staged picture I could find.

Now, that is not 'silent death' on that badge. She is not wearing 'the silent badge of death to her enemies' on her shirt.
Then again, if I had to pit the average person against a girl scout in the wilderness, in a 'survival' match of 'getting out of the wilderness alive', I know who I'd put my money on.
Even if we're talking about someone in good physical condition, versus her, I still know who I'd put my money on.

In a scenario of 'hunt the other person down in the wilderness and kill that person with this weapon' the girl would win it hands down against any ordinary, untrained person (unless they could close to point blank range.)
A person in good physical condition, but untrained, would still lose.
Obviously, a trained adult in good physical condition would have the better odds.

Not bad for a scamp of a girl who looks so fragile you could knock her over like a vase and shatter her on the floor.

The ears? Look at her medium length (long for Americans) hair. She has tucked it behind her ears. So yes, her ears show distinctly, as does her face.
I think she is rather pretty, frankly. Her beauty shows especially in the look in her eyes, the smile on her face, the sincerity of her face and body language. It is not an *adult* beauty, not a sexually attractive beauty (she is not old enough, by any standard.) It is the beauty of a teenager who will grow into a beautiful young woman, of body and hopefully of mind and spirit.

Her country is facing war. It has a long history of war. This girl will face several wars in her lifetime. She will earn that 'silent badge of death' soon enough, I fear.
The young woman in GI Jane was a volunteer. In the case of Israel, the war comes to you. You are included. Everyone is invited. If Iran goes nuclear and/or biological, this girl could be in for fun times the likes of which GI Jane herself never imagined. Unfortunately.

Are you sure? Bagpuss and I have pretty good eyes.

He's even pointed it out a couple of posts above.

I think the avatar is fine Edena. At least you have a good reason for this choice.
I don't even have a good reason for my current avatar, which is more or less completely random (which is kind of appropriate I guess).

That you choose to honor this young woman by taking her as your face on these boards is a kind and brave gesture that I feel is being mocked unfairly by some.

Just keep being you man. I may not read all your posts, especially if I need to scroll down more than once, but I tend to feel that your heart is in the right place.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on using an animated Gif avatar?
I want to use this image:

But the file is too large even when I'm hosting it from another site. :(
