Long ago you were called upon to perform a great and terrible duty (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/showthread.php?t=406)for your board. I need you to sacrifice your time and ingenuity once again, for a new member to our space station has neglected to find an avatar for herself. Not only that, but she hastily removed the avatar I lovingly searched for and chose to bestow upon her.
I need you, my sick and twisted friend, to find a suitable avatar for... shiningbrow. May the gods of mischief be with you.

Dear Kay Tastrophe
As I explained in my recent PM to you, I've had some technical problems posting my avatar. I asked for help, not in selecting one, but in posting it. I'm disturbed by the apparent need to impose one upon me. I'd prefer not to have an avatar at all, rather than to have one selected for me. If this can't be arranged, perhaps this is not the forum for me. Again, I do not understand why the methods I've used to post avatars in other fora do not work here, but I'd be happy for some assistance.

Post the image you'd like as an avatar and I'll make sure it's in a suitable format for you. Probably it's too big, either in pixels or kb.

The board automatically resizes it for me.
Shiningbrow, it's a long tradition for board admins to assign avatars to those who have not selected it one. Don't let that scare you off. From what I've read from your posts so far you seem like a bright and fun person to have around here.:)

Here is the link to Photobucket. I thought I'd reduced the image to avatar size and have done the same thing elsewhere with no trouble, but I'm left scratching my head after multiple attempts.

Can you just upload it from your pc? I go to edit avatar then browse from my pc and choose the image I want then hit select and it does the rest for me.

I remember fondly the days when we would "earn" ourselves a custom title ... and usually not one we would have given ourselves. After the requisite gnashing of teeth, I think most of us came to see the humor. Besides, it showed that the admins and mods cared (by cared, I mean very bored). ;)

Please accept my apologies, shiningbrow. I meant you no discomfort. I started this thread around 1 pm, and only got your PM indicating problems around 4 pm. This thread was not intended to answer your request for help but to cause mischief for a person I saw as being obtuse. My natural assumption is that everyone here is obtuse, so that tells me you were fitting right in! :D I was humbled, rightly so, when I learned your intentions were not what I'd assumed. This makes me an ass.

Thanks, Kay. I spent about 2 hours futzing with that annoying Photobucket and still couldn't manage to crop and shrink the image, despite the fact that I'd done this successfully several times before with other images. I wasn't sure if I'd succeeded without realizing it or if some deity had interceded. Now I see it was the latter! Thanks again.
