that was excellent. 2004 Stewart gets up on crossfire and rips into the media for the way they're acting, 2008 fergusson gets up and delivers a brilliant lecture on what it means, at the very core, to be a citizen of the united states.

why is it that the comedians are the ones who actually get it?

because the Jester is free to speak the truth and only a fool would fail to listen.

It's unfortunate that better and more reasoned coverage of an election comes from late night television hosts than from journalists.

Amazing, amazing video. That guy was spot on. The fact that he is a comedian and not a journalist illustrates how ashamed a lot of today's modern journalists should feel.

That video should be required viewing across the country.

"If you don't vote, you are a moron."

Wonderful. :)

Of course, right down in the comments to the video, there's a guy explaining why he's not going to vote...

He asks why we turn to the late night comics for our news... But we all know why. They're the only ones who aren't afraid to say it like it is. They might not have the best news or the most in-depth interviews and opinions, but at least they are honest about it.

Right now the best I've been hearing is from National Public Radio and PBS (I listen to Charlie Rose every day).

But where are the hardcore, old-school journalists and interviewers? Why is the election being covered like a sporting event? Why are we bogged down in one-liners and fabricated issues?

I suspect that, deep down at the core of the matter, we only have ourselves to blame... :(

I wish. Replays, in-depth analaysis. Retired pros telling secrets, multiple angles. Referees who can call BS. In-depth interviews with the stars.

If only. :)

You're right. You can tell I don't watch many sports. People take sports seriously. More seriously than politics.

Ferguson had it right. The politicians are being covered like celebrities - not like politicians and not like sports.
