I was inspired by Harry's wonderful thread, HARRY'S HOOTENANY (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1404), and decided to make my own. Great music, by the way, Harry.
Every October (well, most of them) I head down to Mexico's Puerto Peņasco to listen to my favorite local band-made-good, ROGER CLYNE AND THE PEACEMAKERS (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.azpeacemakers. com%2F%3Fcontent%3Dhome), put on their semi-annual show, CIRCUS MEXICUS (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.azpeacemakers. com%2F%3Fcontent%3Dabout_circus_mexicus). It's a great show--usually a five to six hour set--followed by hangovers and everyone getting together at JJ'S CANTINA (http://www.kaytastrophe.com/vb/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jjscantina.com %2F) to talk to the band and drink more beer. Some of the best times of my life have been at these events down in Mexico and I love them enough to go on about them for far too long, so I'll cut this short. Suffice it to say that they're a blast with people partying, enjoying the music and the food, and is, at the same time, a family affair that people bring their kids to. It's great (and it helps that I speak spanish).
Maybe because I've been planning my trip this year, but I've been listening to Roger Clyne's music all day today, enjoying my DosXXs and Tres Generaciones this evening, and wanted to share. Roger Clyne is one of my favorite singer/songwriters and I've gone to some of his first gigs, back before the Refreshments really got going, when he used sometimes to play at desert parties outside Tuscon and sometimes Tempe. Fun times.
Here's one of his first songs, Banditos, and the one that made it onto the radio. It was a halfway decent hit, though the band broke up afterwards, stifling his career for a time, before he reformed it with the Peacemakers and decided to be an independent musician. He's still completely independent, which makes it unlikely he winds up on the radio again, but still throws an awesome show. Feel good desert-rock to tap your foot and help you drink your beer.
Unfortunately, this is one of his few actual videos ever made, since he's independent and anything you find is usually put together during a show by a fan.

Here's another song I love, Mexico, performed during Circus Mexicus. He usually gets the party going in Mexico with it.
Yeah. We get a lot drunk. A lot.

And another great song, Ashes of San Miguel, written for his best friend, Michael O’Hara, who lost his fight with cystic fibrosis. A sad song, but a great one.

Finally, one of my favorite songs (I've said that before, I think), Switchblade, which unfortunately doesn't seem to have a good recording on youtube.

I'll post more if anyone shows some interest. Some of the best times of my life have been with my friends and family listening to RCPM and so I wanted to share them with you guys. If you ever have a chance to see them in person, DO IT. They put on a great show and the energy is enough to help you have good days for a week after.
