I've decided to vote for Obama. For me that's huge. I've never voted for democrat before. This whole Palin thing sits with me wrong and I just can't stand behind a man who would choose her as a running mate.

There's no need to decide yet, wait until after the debates.

And she's seen the light!

I knew it was possible, now after years of urging her to examine the candidates and the issues, she's decided to make a responsible voting decision. Unfortunately I can't be in every American household, but I'm hoping that I won't have to be.

Congratulations!

You really think there is going to be something monumental that could sway things back McCain's way?

I try not to underestimate someone's chance to impress or disappoint me.

You really think there is going to be something monumental that could sway things back McCain's way?

1. A speech on par with the Gettysburg Address from McCain.

2. Palin getting run over by a bus and taking Lieberman as a running mate instead.

3. An Obama meltdown, which frankly, I'd be shocked to see.

4. An Obama assassination, which unfortunately, I think is more likely than an Obama meltdown.

5. Bush manufacturing another national emergency, declaring martial law, and refusing to relinquish power (possible, but not likely).

6. The capture of Osama bin Laden, the unconditional surrender of Al'Qaida, plummeting gas prices, sudden reversal of global warming, and an Israel - Palestinian peace accord that actually works. Of course if Bush can pull these rabbits out of the hat before election time, I'll go to church every Sunday for a month.

If you have to go to a church, make sure you find a Universal Unitarian Church. They don't know WHAT they believe, so I doubt it would be as painful for you as, say, a hardline Roman Catholic church would be, Singularity. ;)

Oh no this isn't my husband's doing. He may think it is but it isn't. I'm still voting republican for our own state elections. And my views on certain issues will never change no matter how much NZ tries to debate them with me.

Our spaghetti
Who art in the colander
Hallowed be thy sauce
Thy serving come
Thy strands be wrung
On forks as they are on spoons
Give us this day our daily meatball
And forgive us our starchiness
As we forgive those who are starchy against us
And lead us not into Kraft parmessan
But deliver us from Chef Boy Ardee
For thine is the garlic
And the onion and the bay leaves
For ever and ever.

Honestly, I don't blame you...

You can tell how much of an unmitigated disaster this is by watching the conservative press scramble.

Like how being a governor and nominally in charge of the national guard now apparently qualifies both as "executive" and "military" experience, and how much more valuable that experience is than congress (which, they don't mention, is McCain's primary qualification, too).

Or that she has foreign policy experience because Alaska is, you know, right next to Russia.

These claims are ridiculous on their face, but it's all the pundits can come up with. Well, or they try and deflect the question onto Obama's experience, which misses the point entirely.

I cannot tell you how much this all bothers me, along with the fact that the state she is Governor of has slightly more people than the city I live in, not counting suburbs. For that matter, Alaska's population is a lot less than South Dakota, but more than North Dakota.

Memphis - 674,028

46 South Dakota 796,214
47 Alaska 683,478
48 North Dakota 639,715.
49 Vermont 621,254
51 District of Columbia 588,292

[Memphis metro population is about 1,260,581 people.]

Wait a minute... there's not even a million people in Alaska???

Damn, there's more people on the island I live on!
