I just recieved a call form one of my students asking if I could come with NN and be judges at a Battle of the Bands competition. It starts at 9 and the last band goes on at 1 am. My blood chilled.
What possible reason would I have to be away form my home at 1 in the fucking morning? Couldn;t it start earlier? Was it best to be out late on a weekend with bar traffic?
Then it hit me. I am old, weak and bitter.
I am kinda liking old, weak and bitter. :)
I said I would drop by when it started for moron support but that I couldn't stay the whole time. :)

Get off my lawn damnit!
It really hit me that I'm getting old a few years back when I was watching local weather because of a tornado in the city. I honestly thought to myself, "Who is this kid surely he isn't old enough to be a meteorologist."
I also laugh at the office about it because our new Business Analyst is mid 20's and I keep referencing movies and bands she has never heard of.

I forgot how old you are Varaj. You can't be much older than me.
One of my students is 20 yrs old and we talk a lot at work. She doesn't know half of the bands I like and she has never heard of certain movies that I love.

Home and online at 1 am is one thing. Listening to loud bands is another.
How are you able to still play online? I couldn't figure it out after they made it illgal.

I'm like totally over the hill. 35
We still talk and laugh at the age thing. She mistakenly gasped when she found out I drink because she thought people our age don't drink. Those 10 years make a huge difference. :D

Oh I don't play for really money. NZ would never let me do that. But there are plenty of sites I know of where I could go and do that if I really wanted too.

As concerts go, I realized I was old when I found myself with some other old farts on the edge of the mosh pit at a really good punk show, helping kids as they got to the edge of the scrum land on their feet, or picking them up and checking for concussions if they landed on their heads.

Old people... :D
Keeping up with new music is how I delude myself that I'm not growing old. Going to late concerts is part of the package. Must admit that the most recent one had one act scheduled to go on at 3 am, that was a bit much even for me.
