I want this game. I used to own it and it was fun. But I canot tell if it will work on my laptop (Vista) from the info given and do not want to pay to download it for naught.

Any advice?

Dude, how slow is your internet connection that you can't just download it and try?

Most old games should work in Vista. If they give you trouble, right click the executable and select "Compatability Mode" and try XP.

I think my download speed is alright. But my finances don't let me spend the money without knowing more. :)

Money? It's at "free-game-downloads"... you have to pay if you click the link? Let me check...

Yeah, looks like you do. "Free" indeed.

Try this one instead:

Find the "Where to get it" link.

edit: and it looks like a Win95/98 game. So choose compatibility mode for one of those and see how it goes.

Giving it a try now.

What is/where do I find "compatibility mode"?

Right click the program icon, go to properties (at the bottom), and then go to the compatibility tab.

Right click on the executable file for the game and pick the "compatibility" tab. Should be pretty self evident from there.

edit: beaten!

OK, I have it downloaded. It was in a zip file. I asked the computerto open it and it unzipped everything into a bunch of files in one folder. Now what?

One of the files should be a .exe. That's the one that should start the game.

No .exe. Just CLSGB and then a number from 01 to 38

I have opened all of them and none fo them have an Exe in them.

It's probably some sort of archive. I'm downloading it an will take a look at it. I'm not sure why they'd put a .rar inside a .zip, but that's what it looks like... .rars are known to split up archives into lots of pieces.

Actually, now that I think about it, I've seen that before. If you force the CLSGB file to open using WinRar, it should work.

For some reason it's downloading really slow for me...

The .ace file is the archive file. TUGZip (http://www.tugzip.com/) can handle it.

You'll also need to find WinG32.dll, apparently. And add some registry entries. This is turning out to require more time than I feel like putting into it (which was pretty much none, since I've never played the games), so I'm just going to not bother anymore.
