Boy bites pit bull, snaps tooth


An 11-year-old boy is enjoying a flash of fame in Brazil after biting a pit bull terrier that attacked him as he played in his uncle's back yard, local media reported.

Gabriel Almeida, who lives on the outskirts of Belo Horizonte in the state of Minas Gerais, broke a canine tooth when he bit into the dog's neck to fend off an attack.

Since then, he has been pampered in the studios of several TV stations, where he has been recounting his ordeal.

"I grabbed him by the neck and bit," he told O Globo newspaper. "It's no big deal. It's better to lose a tooth than to lose your life."

He was freed when bystanders pulled the dog off him and needed four stitches in his arm.

I wouldn't dislike pitbulls so much if they weren't owned by irresponsible low class fucks all so often. All the ones I see in the city are owned by the sorts you don't want on your street let alone in posession of an animal bred for combat.

Since we can't make being a low class hoosier illegal I have to target the dogs.

It is always a funny spot on the "Make a breed illegal" debate. Horses, of which there are far fewer than dogs in the USA, kill more people than all dog breeds combined.

I believe making the lower-class favored breed illegal they will just turn to mastiiffs, Shar-pei, any of the other bull terriers...perhps something MUCH worse than the AM PBT.

It si like trying make visible unerwear illegal. It just doesn't work.

I don't think outlawing breeds would help much. As FoC says, people who want "tough guy dogs" will just turn to different breeds, or wolf hybrids, or breed new dogs, etc.

Probably the solution is quite boring - harsher penalties for aggressive dogs and their owners. Most dogs that kill have a record of biting. That means most of the time they could have been taken care of before the tragedy...
