Living through seeing my loved ones die horribly would be far worse.

If alive, you have the potential for revenge/justice. If they punch your ticket right after, you get to die knowing that not only did they go in such a horrible way, but you're helpless to avenge them.

Hope of vengence is a nasty consuming thing. It won't stop the pain even if you get it. I still think living through that is worse.

Thats why I mention this in the first place I was questioning if his original idea was worse if you died or if you lived.

Matter of personal perspective, I suppose. I'd feel worse without the chance at retribution.

I think the worse way to die would be to know that something I had done caused the death of people I love. Not sure what way i mean but to know that I was going to die, i could handle but to know i caused the death of say my children would be just horrible.

Staked over a hole and eaten alive by enraged ants who are smoked out and crawl all over the skin nibbling, down orifices nibbling, and devour you from all over. It would take a very long time to die that way, and you'd feel ever ounce of pain for a very long time to come. Throw in a way to prevent infection, starvation or dying of thirst, and its even more wicked.

Or encourage infection and let maggots fester with the ants, and just keep me lucid enough to still feel it.

Not if they chop off your arms and legs, gouge out your eyes, remove your tongue, and pop your eardrums.

Hmm... I think I've just found mine. With or without loved ones is probably a minor quibble. What the heck, though. Do the same to my wife and kids and put them in the beds right next to me (not touching, though) right before you do me. Don't forget the tracheotomy and feeding tube.

Probably not, but if you don't know you have the gene yourself until you are 50 (onset age from 30-60, average 50), it's probably already too late to avoid having children.

Being betrayed and killed by my family, friends, and other loved ones. It wouldn't really matter how if I knew in the end that those I cared for most where the ones that coldly decided it was time for me to go. :(

You'd know it was coming and have plenty of time to think about it, there'd be just enough of a kernal of teensy weensy hope for pardon to be even more mentally tortuous, you'd be spending your last moments with people who at best dislike you, and it would be all clinical and impersonal.

I don't know how different the chemicals are for putting down animals vs. people.... but I know the animals taste the chemicals before they go. So that would add to the lethal injection panic a bit in my mind.

It's the anticipation that would get to me. "Tomorrow at 1 pm I'm going to die." It almost gives me a stomachache to even think about what that would be like. So I guess I'm silly, too. :p
