Has anyone else been watching this show? It's from the guy who did Deadwood, David Milch, and it features a lot of the same actors.

I've been enjoying it. It's a strange little show though. It's as full of the twisting language as Deadwood was, although the Yost family tends to speak pretty plainly. I can't claim I know exactly what's going on but it's still kept me interested.

Spoiler for the show:
John must be Jesus or something like him though. Unless he's an angel and Shaun is the messiah. There's evidence for both but John keeps referring to my Father (with a capital G).

Sorry man. It's canceled sir, so don't get too invested in it.

I however caught a few episodes and it was growing on me.

Yeah, I didn't think it'd be around for a second season.

John From Cincinnati? JC? JFC? ;) Yeah, he was probably a Jesus stand in if the title joke is any indication.

Of course I didn't catch that.

I watched the first one and a half episodes and just could not get into it. It really did not make much sense to me. I figured it would not be on too long.

Imagine getting in on the third or forth :)

I couldn't get into it at all, and I just kept thinking "Milch walked away from Deadwood for this?"

Well he was kind of forced to.

My understanding was Milch wanted to stop doing Deadwood to do this. Kind of his pet project.

Oh okay, I thought HBO pulled the plug and he said okay how about this?

Might've been a bit of both. I know that Rome was expensive for them, and they wanted to do stuff that was more local, i.e. filmed in LA, so maybe they weren't sad about Deadwood.

I love the dialogue coming at you from out of left field. But in keeping with their recent trend they drop a well written, well acted show in my lap and take it away after I commit to it. They fucked me with Carnivalle and Deadwood but drug the Sopranos out 2 or 3 seasons longer than they needed to. They should stick to movies or mini-series that you don't get too attached to but can still appreciate. Fuckers.

I was able to stick it out through the first three episodes...couldn't do it after that. It just never seemed to go anywhere in terms of story and seemed to rely on its being inaccessible as some kind of cool.

As long as I still have Entourage, Big Love, and FoTC (which, if you are not watching, is a collosal mistake on your part), I'm good on the HBO front.

It is a shame that Deadwood ended for this show. Hopefully we will get the Deadwood movies to wrap up the series, since the last story arc was anti-climatic to say the least.

The last season meandered a bit, but I did like the way it wrapped. To a certain extent, they're restrained by history. While I would've loved to see Swearengen and Bullock do away with Hearst, it would've been pure fiction.

I agree that they had to stick to history which did effect the storyline. I would like to have seen some wrap up with the characters personal plotlines. Hopefully the movies will accomplish that.
