Some of you will remember me talking about our annual float trips from years past and all the good times we've had. Well next Friday morning I load the truck and go pick up an old flame of mine in Iola to come along with me to camp madness, (She even told me she would share my sleeping bag! :boggle:) We're going back to Shady Beach Campground in Noel, MO., where we'll float the Elk River.

It looks bigger and better than ever this year, preliminary head count puts us at 16 floaters! We'll party and camp Friday night, then load up and hit the river all day Saturday. Saturday night people are usually too wiped out to do much more than sit around the fire and relax. Sunday morning we strike camp and meet up at Shoneys for their all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet!

I'm trying to be ahead of the game this year, I've already got a box with earplugs, croakies for my my glasses, sunscreen, insect repelant, flashlights, swimsuit and water shoes loaded up. I bought a double-height queen-size air bed for the trip and have bagged up all the bedding I'll need except for pillows.

I'm so stoked! next friday night I'll be drunk and in the river letting the civilization wash off of me! Woohoo.

Anybody got any viagra? :D

Sounds wonderful but what do you need the earplugs for?

Sounds like you have everything but the condoms. Don't forget those. We don't want you having a Critter incident.;)

I have suffered from chronic ear problems my whole life, water gets in, I get an infection, so I try to prevent that from happening. I don't wear them the whole float, but when swimming, etc.

Good point. I had to throw mine all out a few months back because they were expired and haven't had call for any. We will likely be sharing a tent, so I am doubting anything happens... but just in case I'll buy a couple.

yeah... be ready man, be ready. Just in case.

Be sure to bring lots of water. We all can go without food for a few days, but you need that water!

We pack more water on the rafts than anything else, but this isn't some wilderness expedition, it's the kind of river where you wear Mardi Gras style beads and hope the girls are in season! :D

It's a day trip.

Glad you had a good weekend.

No, I brought condoms, we were both extremely into it, and she paused to ask if I knew this was a bad idea. (because I'm going to be living with her and her kids before too long, and she does have a live-in boyfriend in a psuedo-open relationship)

We were drawn to each other all weekend, but my damn chivalry kept me stopping short. Although Sunday morning I made damn sure she had something to remember me by.

Am I a masochist?

DAMN THIS HONOR!
