When I see these people, and listen to these people... I wonder how on earth they can possibly believe what they are saying. I simply cannot conceive any motive other than a desire to deceive. I know, that's not being fair. But I can't think of anything less kind except to think they've suffered so much somehow in their own lives that they must be abjectly subservient to a bizarre and misguided belief. When I look at their faces, I see strange emotion, that I can only decipher as desperation.

Yeah, I was reading that while it was actually happening and it was hillarious.
PZ as the sobot for Darwin's rotweiller!
Problem is, if you look at the surveys, a disturbingly large proportion of the US population are ceationsists of some sort (compared with the rest of the developed liberal democracies). Scary.

You have just identified where we can start with population control. Exterminate the stupid!

No. Just stop them from breeding.
I say there should be an IQ test before one should be allowed to spawn.
Those who fail but want to be mothers can - they just have to be surrogates for someone else's egg and sperm.
And for the humourless among you - yes, I AM joking.
On a serious note, the tour in the video in teh OP is in my view a form of child abuse. There is a serious argument that those kids should be put in a real school and maybe even taken away from thair parents. This sort of educational abuse has the potential to do them lasting damage.
But then again, if we started treating bad educational practices as child abuse like we should, we'd end up jailing half the school teachers in the US, Canada and Australia.
Yes, that crack against teachers is an indication that I'm teaching at law school again - and again I'm amazed at the extent of the skills deficit in most of my students.

To be perfectly honest and fair, these videos make me feel very good about myself.

You don't need a motive - plain ignorance, superstition and ego can attribute for their thinking.
