View Full Version : What should I do for my birthday?

We have a sitter and we're going out tomorrow to celebrate (though the big day isn't until March 4th). Apparently we can do "whatever I want." I'm going to be 30.

The only things I can think of are going to the movies and grabbing something to eat. I don't like drinking, partying, clubs, loud music, or most other things people seem to like to do when they go out. I thought about getting a cheap motel room. :) It's not often we get a chance to take our time.

But maybe I'm just being uncreative. Maybe there's something totally cool and fun that I'd love doing, but I just haven't thought of it. Ideas?

Some people like bowling or mini-golf. I don't care for them but can be fun for those that like it.

Cheap hotel room is a good way to finish the night but don't make it your whole plan. :)

Other options.
Museum
volunteering at a soup kitchen (may sound kind of lame but can be a good fulfilling birthday)
arts shows that may be town
local plays

Leave the little lady at home, and go out and actually enjoy yourself?

You could pick up... and get what you really want.

Not a bad idea, Coopers.

Hit the bank account, Name Lips, and get yourself a room at the Motel 6, an eightball, some Wild Irish Rose and a prostitute. Have yourself a grand old time.

You and the wife should go out for a nice dinner someplace that you normally will not go. and then end the night at the hotel. :)

Do you get to stay out all night or do you have to be home by a certain time? If you get the entire evening until morning, I'd head out of town to the closest city. A change of scenery is always fun plus then you can go and explore the local attractions. The cheap hotel room sounds like a good idea except, do you really want to spend your birthday having sex when you can have that any ol' time you want. (Yes I know kids do hamper a sex life so kick them out of your room. That will help get your sex life on track. Then you don't have to spend special occasions for sexcapades.;) And yes it is possible for kids to sleep a lone at any age. I got 4. And none of mine sleep with us.)

And one last thing, Happy early Birthday. :D

I say go to the adult toy store, buy something silly-fun and then go to the hotel room, or just to the car in the parking lot for that matter.

Fetish clubs are fun if you want to get your kink on.

You should wrestle some midgets.

That's not a birthday, that's an any-day.
You should wrestle some midgets.
So is that.

I could have sworn I posted it somewhere... I guess not here.

We went to the Albuquerque Museum. I like the historic artifacts that tell the story of the region, with actual examples of native and conquistador weapons and armor. They also had an interesting display of old circus banners, from way back when the circuses traveled on trains and wagons. There was another display with a series of photos taken of people's workplaces in Albuquerque during the Great Depression. I like seeing old photos of commonplace locations because it's like a window into the past. The people looked morose, but these were the lucky ones who had jobs and owned businesses!

Then we walked around Old Town and found a nice little restaurant, and walked over to the Candy Lady's shop to check out her x-rated candies. Interesting to look at, but didn't see any point in buying them.

Then we went to the Natural History Museum to see a movie at the IMAX theater. It was a documentary on ancient Greece and excelled at showing sweeping vistas and panoramas of the ruins, which was cool. The documentary itself was lacking and only loosely related to the ruins they were showing at the time. The show was an hour, and all the actual information could have been presented in a quarter of that time.

Emerald got me Heroscape, my kids got me a solar-powered outdoor light in a globe held by a copper dog. Neat, but it seems to have stopped working already. A couple of my friends kids found some rocks outside my house and gave them to me. I'm going to put legs and eyes on them and tell them they hatched, and thanks for the pet rocks.
