The chips from Canada arrived today.
Let me just say that curry potato chips are everything I hoped for. In other words, stay back! They're mine. All mine.
It's just not fair that we can't buy these in the US. They're the best potato chips ever. EVER!
Yay, I was starting to get worried.
Our american chips have arrived as well. I can report that the cinnamon sweet potato chips were as disgusting as I expected, but that Heather vaguely doesn't hate them.

Yeah, ordering Pringle's was just for curiosity's sake, I hope. What about the BBQ? I think the Classic-style Seyferts are amazing.
Freedom Canadian is bringing some more different kinds to Gencon and we're bringing him some Livewire. :D

Haven't been into much of them. Busy with on-call this week, and I did bust into one bag - Cheese and Chipotle - and it was so hot and humid the whole bag went stale within ten minutes of being open.
So I decided to hold off a bit until I could focus a little more and the humidity broke.
As for the cheesy chipotle - they were okay. Excellent quality chip, but the flavoring was a little underwhelming. The chipotle built up to a nice warm heat after a few, but the cheese never came on strong. Interesting though, and as with most flavors I'm glad I tried 'em.

I would like to be on the next chip exchange. I can send Montgomery Inn style Bar-B-Q Chips which are to die for.
Do you guys have Miss Vickie's chips down there?
They're what I call a "retail premium" chip, in that they're everywhere at retail, but they're a higher-end chip than the average Hostess or Lays. Unlike a true premium chip that will only be available in select boutique-ish locations, these are fairly affordable, and easily found.
I ask because while they do some of the normal-ish flavors, or upscale takes on them (Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar), they also do some of their own inventions as well. Honey & Roasted Garlic. Vintage Cheddar & Red Onion. Sweet Chili and Sour Cream (Chili as in pepper, not as in the meal. Yes, I feel your pain on the spelling). Lime & Black Pepper. Roasted Red Pepper Grill.
Some fucking good chips flavors in there, and all of them on a light kettle-cooked chip base.

We had Miss Vickie's down in Texas, but I've yet to see them here. :(

As in Utz Crab Chips?
Fucking great. I had about 5 variants of crab boil chips on my North Carolina trip. So good I bought a package of crab boil just so I could think of ways to use it for non crab related food.

We do. In fact, the Quiznos sandwich shop chain carries them as their chips of choice. And they're 'lishus.

Does it make me a chip heretic if I admit to being enamored with plain ol' Doritos Blazin' Buffalo Ranch? :drumstick:

I'm not a big chip person, but I loves to try new foods. I'll find something odd and local for the next exchange.

If it does, I'm one too cause I'm gaga over Doritos Taco flavor (we don't have it up here)

We've got Miss Vickie's here, and the Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar is my dirty little treat that sets back the fitness effort some days. :)
Curry chips sound tasty & interesting.

I think there just might be a reason why Doritos are the single most successful chip brand out there! :scratchchin:

I found that the Tandoori Doritos tasted *very* much like the Taco flavored ones.
I found that the Tandoori Doritos tasted *very* much like the Taco flavored ones.
First couple of bites I thought I was gonna love the Tandoori doritos, but I quickly decided they weren't infact what I was looking for. It was a sad day.
For those contemplating their own chip exchanges, some info on what it cost, etc.
We each bought 5 of the "big" bags. 200g+. We each shipped them ground shipping in a light cardboard bos, so total ship weight was roughtly 1.5 kilos (3 pounds).
It cost each of us slightly over $20 (canadian for me, US for him) for 7 day-ish shipping.
So $15-ish worth of chips and $22-ish worth of shiping makes for $40-ish of outlay, assuming you have packing materials on hand.
If you're a chip lover/adventurer, it's totally worth it.

If another one ends up happening, there's a brand they've been selling around here lately called "Blair's Death Rain."
Habanero chips.

You need to get some Brits in on this ... they have the wierdest chip flavours I've ever come across: Chinese takeaway and similar.

Poore Brother's Steak and Onion Chips
OMFG. These things actually taste like grilled beef and carmlised onions. You have the simultaneous experience of a tasty chip combined with thinking how the fuck did they do this?
http://www.inventuregroup.net/Poore-Brothers.asp
Unforntually it looks like they no longer make them. The Cracked Pepper is quite good and a very different flavor and the Habanero Chips are very hot without losing their flavor.

Those are death. For real.I'm starting to suspect. A few weeks back I bought a bag for a coworker who likes spicy stuff, and even he was sweating.
about the only non big name brands I've seen here is Cap Cod, Russet is good, Jalapenios are better

Cape Cod is probably my favorite brand of non-local chip. I don't generally care for Lays or Humpty Dumpty or whatever, but Cape Cods are just great.

The next chip exchange that starts up, I want in!
Having finished, I can say that MikeSell's Bold Bahama BBQ chips were excellent. Pretty much the prototypical high-end BBQ chip. Not too sweet, not too spicy, a good balance, on a very good kettle-cooked base. Thankfully an ample application of the flavoring. God I hate when the chip flavoring is good but they go too light on it. Better they go too heavy than too light.
Very much like the old Miss Vickie's Mesquite BBQ (that seems to have been discontinued a good long time now), minus the Mesquite note.
