I'm not french, but it's more of the same from last time.

Yanno, thousands of poor, unemployed people, living in slums, with little hope of that changing in the future being angry at the govt and everything else in the way.

From what I've heard, a couple of young fools, which I presume were drunk, totalled into a police car while riding one of those ugly boil on the face of dignity called minibikes. (Being on such a caricature of a vehicle is a sure way to make sure you'll never get a shred of respect from me.) Anyway, the morons' friends said it was the police's fault, and the riots started then.

You know the best part of the story? The minibike, they stole it. And they were driving helmetless, of course. My personal opinion is that their death should be the pretext for much rejoicing, as it removed the mar of their intense imbecility from the human genepool, but obviously the suburbian fauna doesn't agree with this elementary common sense.

These are straws that break the camel's back.

People don't go on giant riots because of an incident like that. That's just an excuse. The real reason? Usually they are pretty pissed off about something, such as social inequality.

The sad thing is that this happened 2 years ago. Apparently, nothing (or not enough) has been done to fix the root cause.

Duh. People voted for Sarkozy, aka Mr. "I'm gonna make a lot of laws that are completely inapplicable so that it will look like I'm working on solving problems and it'll make me popular but the problems won't ever be solved so that I will be able to pretend working on them forever and stay in front of the cameras forever."

Of course nothing has been done to fix the root of anything.
