Its not so much that a bunch came here its that some came here and our argumentative nature kept them coming back.

I don't know about Qstor, but KoS isn't really that argumentative on the boards. He just rants like a crack-fuelled madman. I kind of dig that.

Where is the hateful bastard, anyway? I haven't read a really good rant in ages!

Here I am, bitch! I am so riled up about something that I called off work today (and you bet your sweet ass I'll be drinking and calling off work tomorrow, too!)

As far as the other lawyers go, there is NGRI (not to be confused with NRG) but NRG is a soon-to-be-lawyer. We'll be able to start our own law firm and sue all your tortfeasin' asses!

What kind of Lawyer is Atticus, KoSs and KoS's boss (Whirlygig) ?

What kind of Lawyer is Atticus, KoSs and KoS's boss (Whirlygig) ?

I'm now a barrister (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrister) (specialist sole practising court room lawyer; some of the wikipedia article is a little inaccurate) specialising in government law but trying to develop a commercial practice. There's a possibility I may do some crime next year.

Prior to that I was an assistant to the Australian Solicitor-General in constitutional law and administrative law matters (with a little bit of international law thrown in). Before that I was a solicitor in government and before that in private practice. After lawschool I was an associate to a Federal Court judge (roughly equivalent to a US appeals court clerkship). I've also taught administrative law and statutory interpretation courses at two lawschools.

Mostly I do research. In law school I focused on intellectual property law (and divorce!) but currently I do more researching and reading cases and statutes all day for other people.

Yes, and I know, crime doesn't pay - unless you're acting for drug dealers or white-collar criminals.

Saw the pic of the Pakastani lawyers protesting the dismissial of thier high judge, got to wondering what if all the worlds lawyers went on strike for 1 day for a cause.

Currently
- government
- government
- bank
- government
- penniless refugee
- government
- penniless failed business man
- government
- penniless protesters
- etc.

The crime work I may do next year will be legal aid. Basically, the fuckups of society.

So how's that client list coming along?

If I developed a criminal practice and a solicitor briefed me to act for an alleged drug dealer, I'd be obliged by the Bar Rules to take the brief. But I'm not sure they'd want me. I tend to take my duty to the court pretty seriously and that can mean, for example, disclosing things the client would rather not have disclosed.

Uh crap. Now I have to think up something good.

Um, the goverment is discriminating against me as a white male aged 18-35 by:
- apologizing to the aboriginies. I want a fucking apology too.
- mentioning "the working family" every fucking time a politician gets on the TV. I am not a working family, so I am unrepresented.
- by censoring anything at all, they are imposing their morality on me and have overstepped the bounds of government. By reducing my access to any material, I am inhibited in my growth and development as an individual.

I must stress I can't pay you much until you get a paycheck for me.
So, gimme a ping when you're ready to hand over some cash.

The government does have a programme that will pay you a regular cheque - it's called the disability pension. ;-)
