My restaurant just got booked to do a Madrigal Dinner!

Wassail, whole chickens, big salads, and deserts. We have a real taxidermied boar's head and all. I am looking forward to it big time.

Has anyone here ever done one or been to one and can you make any suggestions?

Or you could opt for total renaissance decadance a la Borgia and just recreate the Banquet of Chestnuts.

I participated in our local madrigal dinner for about 5 years. It was a four show (night) event, with each night hosting about 300-400 people for dinner and 3.5 hour show.

I suggest calling your local college's music or theater department and enlisting the aid of a choir, actors, etc. At the minimum, you'll need a lord of the manor and his high-table guests, and you'll likely want a fool as well. But, if you contact the college you might get lucky enough to have a professor that can get you the bodies and material to expand the scope of the event. Failing that, contact a local medieval recreation group and see if they can provide entertainment.

Sorry, bad information on my part. We are just doing the food. They are handling the rest. :)

Although a fat guy with a turkey leg is indeed hard to resist.
