Hi guys,

I'm writing a "Year of the Zombie" entitled "The Long Way Home"; it's set (initially) in Iraq, among US Army and Marines. I've got some specific questions about life/culture/stuff that I hope someone might be able to answer.

In no particular order:

Where's the bonnet/hood/engine compartment on a Bradley? Where do you put the fuel in? What does the nozzle to put the fuel in look like - like on a normal petrol pump?

Where do you put the fuel in on a Blackhawk? Does the nozzle for the fuel look like a normal petrol pump?

Do Marines really give their assigned weapon a girls name or is this just a "Full Metal Jacket"ism?

You probably wont get any answers to questions 1 and 2. That may be "classified" information as it can be used against them.

As for #3, none of the marines I know have named their rifles. If they ever did it may have gone out of style after Vietnam.

Yeah, now it's computer geeks who give their boxes girl names.

They are the new marines. :D

What are you calling your box these days by the way?

One is called My Computer, one JF and the laptop is called Lappie.

You have to give them network names but they don't need to be girl's names.

My roommate (who was briefly on NTL under the handle SolipsismNow) installed a printer network for a company, and named each printer after a chick from Buffy or Angel.

I was never alround Bradley's so I have no idea, same for Blawkhawks. There must be a book some where that shows an exploded view of both.

I've never known anyone to name thier weapon, ok there was one strange duck that named his M203 Bloopy but he was from New Jersey
