Ok seriously, stop it now.

With one exception I can reasonably consider- enough of this flouncing off "maybe I leave the board" bullshit.

People posting ideas that arent simpatico with yours is not a fuckin invite to lose your mind like you are the goddamn king or queen of the universe.

Next one to threaten it gets escorted out.

Fuck you all. Put up or shut up.

For the record, I've not gone anywhere. I am however seriously questioning my association with some members here. If that's being a weeping vagina, so be it. I didn't post for a week hoping that my anger at those wee widdle disagreements, but it did not.

Clean up on aisle 6, asshole. Let it drop.

Personally, I don't think either of the two emotionally charged threads I've seen were very bad (if there were more than the two then I missed them). I mean, I'm the last person to try and tell the board owners/admins how to run the place (I try to be as supportive to the board as I can) but I didn't think anything I've read here was that bad. It's natural that we will sometimes have some serious arguments considering both the topics discussed and the passion some of us feel towards them. If we only talked about "safe" things, like coupons, the board would be a much less interesting place!

I guess I'm just trying to say that I hope we don't lose our perspective. This board could have twice the vitriol and it would still be the sanest, most pleasant message board I know of. The level of discourse here remains one of its primary attractions and I don't think a few heated arguments change that.

The two most important rules, in my opinion, are these:

1. Don't take the fight to other threads (the drama should remain in the thread where it began).

2. Don't contact the admins when your feelings are hurt or when someone is mean to you in a thread. EVER.

As long as we follow those guidelines, things can't really get out of hand. If a thread gets too heated, avoid it. Or stay and get in a few licks of your own. Or flame out, whatever. People can be passionate and even fight when necessary (not all fights are bad; I've learned a lot in some of them!) but this way it doesn't contaminate the rest of the board. We're all grown ups here. There's no reason why we can't let our rough edges work themselves out while still enjoying the most supportive and respectful message board I know of.

Bella, Brynja, if I've overstepped myself with this, then I really do apologize. This board just happens to be something that I feel passionate about.

I went to the Doc for my weeping vagina. He proscribed an ointment. Should be cleared up of all weeping two weeks from Friday.

He told you not to use an ointment? Was it some kind of faith based healing?

I have absolutely no idea. I'm guessing there are a couple of threads, that I haven't read, where some people went balistic. I'm also assuming that Brynja doesn't want rubberneckers, so I'm not going to ask what threads they are, and I'll continue posting in blissful ignorance.

I don't know! This is my first vagina, so I'm taking him at his word.

Some new drama from time to time is fun. As long as it doesn't last a whole month.

Tampons would be more location-appropriate.

OMG! It's called a period. I can't stop it. :bawling:

But I thought a period was supposed to be a full stop. Oh well, at least it's better than having a semi-colon.

btw dan savage had a good point about vagina, pussy etc being used as a synonym for weakness:

vaginas can deal with a lot of abuse.
balls, on the other hand, are pretty fragile.

so stop being little swollen gonads, or something. (still blissfully clueless)

In the spirit of equal rights, and can we call some of them droopy penises? Because really, really no one likes a flaccid cock.

If that is how a glans is supposed to look in America, I'm really glad I live in a country where boys don't get their foreskin butchered off.

Robert Mapplethorpe’s iconic 1982 portrait of Louise Bourgeois, who died recently at 98, speaks volumes about Bourgeois’ free-spiritedness, grace, tenacity and the kinky perversity of her work. In it, the 71-year-old sculptress looks like a shaman seductress, one of Munch’s vampiric castration queens, a maker of voodoo dolls and a diva grandmother rolled into one. Under her arm she casually cradles her 23-inch long, seven-inch circumference latex-over-plaster sculpture of a phallus, Fillette (1968). In French the term means "helpless little girl." While Bourgeois was no little girl, there’s something radically vulnerable about how she’s holding the work -- she almost seems to pull back the sculpture’s foreskin and give the thing a little tickle. Bourgeois said this gnarly abstract penis, with ovular testicles and a hook at the top, was "the shape of my husband, the shape of the children" (she had three sons). "I wanted to represent something I loved," she said. "I obviously loved representing a little penis." Little? Anyway, as Bourgeois later said, "It’s very complicated." Indeed it was. As she said, "I have nothing against the penis. It’s the wearer." The article continues...

Fillette (1968). In French the term means "helpless little girl."

The connotation of helplessness is entirely in the article author's head.

The piece, this one, and another version with a smooth "glans," is normally exhibited upright and thereby takes on a more gynemorphic aspect. She veers toward Surrealism, so this is not a work to be taken literally. The ambiguity is deliberate.

BTW, when are you going to let that poor woman out of the mailbox? ;)
